IT WAS THE WORST mistake Y/n had ever done in her life. And the faces on Harry and Hermione said it all. How could she been so foolish and forget something obvious? Filch led them to Professor McGonagall's study office on the first floor, where they took a seat and waited without speaking. Y/n glanced at Harry, who seemed annoyed with himself, and Hermione was trembling at the fact they had gotten caught.

Y/n thought of many excuses, stories, and cover ups to tell Professor McGonagall, but not one of them stuck with her, each more feeble than the last. She didn't think they would be able to get out of this situation with just a slap on the wrist.

They were cornered, nowhere to hide. There was no reason on earth that Professor McGonagall would accept for their being out of bed and creeping around the school in the dead of night, let alone being up the tallest astronomy tower, which was out-of-bounds.

If Professor McGonagall ever found out about Nobert and the invisibility cloak, they might as well be packing their bags right now, instead of facing the music. Had Y/n thought that things couldn't have been worse? She was wrong. When Professor McGonagall appeared, followed by Neville.

"Harry!" Neville burst out, the moment he saw them. "I was trying to find you to warn you, I heard Malfoy saying he was going to catch you, he said you had a drag -"

But before he went any further, Harry began to shake his head wildly, pressing his finger to his lips to stop him from saying anything else.

Professor McGonagall had seen this. She looked more likely to breathe fire than Norbert as she towered over the four of them.

"I would never have believed it of any of you. Mr. Filch says you were up in the astronomy tower. It's one o'clock in the morning. Explain yourselves."

Hermione failed to answer her question, ashamed of herself to speak about it. She stared at her slippers, still as as statue. Y/n tried to answer, but only stutters came out her mouth, which she quickly abandoned, not wanting to get themselves in trouble more than they already were.

"I think I've got a good idea of what's been going on," said Professor McGonagall, hands on her hips. "It doesn't take a genius to work it out. You fed Draco Malfoy some cock-and-bull fabricated story about a dragon, trying to get him out of bed and into trouble. I've already caught him. I suppose you think it's funny that Longbottom here heard the story and believed it, too?"
