    THE BEGINNING OF Y/n's summer holiday wasn't as peaceful as she expected. Her best friend had taken matters into her own hands to sign both of them up for a volunteering job at a library downtown. Hermione said that it would teach them real-world responsibility. Y/n's aunt agreed. 
    Of course, this was after she almost fainted when Y/n told Beth everything that happened back at Hogwarts during their first year. Once Y/n finished, Beth asked a thousand questions to make sure she was understanding correctly. 
    "So you sneaked out of bed to fight this ferret?"
    "Yes."
    "And knocked a troll unconscious?" she turned pale when Y/n nodded again.
    "But that was all Harry and Ron," she added. This didn't help; Beth clapped a hand over her mouth. 
    "But what about detention at the forbidden forest?" said Beth. 
    "Well, we wanted to take the dragon off Hagrid's hands," said Y/n slowly, so Beth could take all of the information in without freaking out. "But the ferret caught on to our plan and we got in trouble with Professor McGonagall, luckily, it backfired on him too -"
    "Did anything happen at the forbidden forest?" 
    "Kinda, after a while of being there, this creature showed up — which was You-Know-Who — but we didn't know it at the time — and this centaur Firenze helped me and Harry, he told me 'faith sometimes deceives, destiny can change,' I don't know, something along those lines . ." Beth was quiet. "Are you okay . . ?"
    "No one saw your blue eyes, right?"
    Y/n had the feeling that Beth would go mad if she found out multiple people saw the girl's eyes shift colors. "No, I made sure . ." she lied. 
    "Good," she assured Y/n and herself, "I haven't told you this, but having eyes change colors isn't such a great feature, not in the muggle world, and never in the wizarding world."
    "Why?"
    Beth leaned backwards at this. "Mmm, I have no clue. Just .  . be safe around the people you hang out with."
