"Apparently she went missing.""Missing? What? But we live in such a safe town!" I say, feeling a bit panicked.
i wasn't very interested in the book i checked out with kurapika, but i was bored waiting on him this morning, so i didn't have much else to do.
"I know. It's crazy to think something like that would happen." Jenna sighs, rubbing her head. "I just hope that it's not me next."
I give her a small nod, finishing the paper I was writing about for the boss.
"I wonder why it was Savannah. Why was she kidnapped?" I mutter under my breath.
"That's what I'm wondering." Jenna says, listening to me talk to myself. "But you know, people are crazy. They'll just take whoever passes by them who looks at them the wrong way."
I sit up in my seat, tapping my pen on the desk. "So then, how's Marcus holding up? Him and Savannah were pretty close."
"I don't know," Jenna starts, "He hasn't come to work these past two days. He's probably really sad about it. I think the two of them had a little crush." Jenna laughs.
"Yeah," I sigh, "But I still feel pretty bad for them."
"Don't." Jenna demands. "You're way too nice, Quinn. They treated you horribly and now your worried about them. Someone's going to take advantage of your kindness one day if you keep this up."
"I don't see the problem with being nice. If someone crosses the line, I'll let them know." I sigh.
"Right." Jenna says, rolling away from my desk and continuing her work.
After I finished work, I made my way over to the cafe. It was almost like a routine for me now.
"Hello my favorites customer!" Pearl shouts from the counter. "How you doin', Quinn? You want your usual black coffee?"
"That'd be nice." I smile. "Work went smoothly today."
"Why's that?" Pearl chuckles.
"Well, Savannah and Marcus weren't there. They usually caused me trouble but there wasn't any today."
"Why weren't they at work?"
"Savannah disappeared." I say plainly.
Pearl stops making my drink, placing the cup on the table.
"Now that I think about it," She starts, "I think I saw something about a girl vanishing." She says, picking up my cup and pouring the coffee inside of it.
"I'm worried." I sigh.
"But I thought you didn't like Savannah." She says, handing the cup over to me.
"Yeah, but I'm thinking about how this is a safe town and now someone disappears. Also, I'm worried about what might happen to Savannah."
"But she treated you horribly." Pearl protests. "If i were you, I'd be glad she was gone. I know it sounds mean, but you have to be happy for what's good for you. Savannah only brought you down."
"Yeah." I sigh, taking a sip from my coffee.
a knock interrupts my reading once again as i make my way over to the door.
"good morning, darling." kurapika smiles. it because a routine for the two of us to walk together to school.
"morning, kurapika." i giggle, grabbing his hand as the two of us walked down the street.
