"I'M SORRY, Y/N- I-" eren begins as you both stop in your tracks. after reaching somewhere outside of the building, you lead eren towards an empty bench and sat down first while still holding his hand.
"what are you sorry for?" you ask, hoisting your eyes up at him. eren had an apologetic countenance on his face as he quickly scooted to the empty spot beside of you and sat down.
"i just feel like it's my fault, i should've been watching because i ordered it for you.. and if you hadn't noticed.. then you would've drank it," eren frowns as he spoke in his gentle yet saddened voice, his grasp around your hand tightening softly.
"it's not your fault eren, don't blame yourself," you reassure. "but i just wonder why the bartender spiked the drink.."
"i don't know either, were they going to do something to you?" eren questions, his head turning to you and you shook your head. "no way, the bartender couldn't have possibly known the water was for me. they spiked it because they thought it was for you.." you reply, your eyes furrowing as you thought intently about this.
you began to think about what hange told you before, to be careful. was this what they were meaning to be careful about? eren hasn't done anything harmful to anyone and you know he hasn't because you're literally always with him. and even if you weren't, you knew he wouldn't do anything for someone to drug him like that.
"okay, we're never going to parties again," you conclude. "i shouldn't have thought of coming here anyway, and if i hadn't, maybe this situation wouldn't have happened."
"okay wait, don't blame yourself now, we both didn't know that this would happen," eren says, gently caressing the skin of your hand with his thumb. "overall, i'm just glad you're okay."
keeping your gaze at him, eren sent you a smile before reaching his other hand up to hold your cheek. but the little moment was interrupted when the rest of the group approached, making you and eren turn towards their direction.
