It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see

John Osborne once said: "An artist must always go against the tide." ... Being with the mainstream isn't very difficult. But going against the tide is very difficult. ... "Do you think you can change the world?" Today, I would like to say, "Yes, we can change the world." .... But not in the old way that politicians, ideologists or militants try to make us believe. Their business is to tell lies. Theatre is, occasionally, capable of moments of truth. A tiny group in a tiny space can create something unforgettable ... This world, limited in space and time, can be changed and sometimes so unforgettably that it can change the entire world ...

"It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see."
Henry David Thoreau (1817–62)

Discuss the quotation in a 150/200-word essay. Support your ideas by referring to your reading and your personal experience.

Nowadays, broadcasting the truth through third-parties is being lost. Artists have always taken charge of denouncing something that is omitted via mass media (like theatres, newspapers or books). In the history of literature there have been many, through these means of dissemination, to tell the truths hidden under subterfuges. Referring to the text, all we know that artists changed the world: "the Earth without art is eh". In fact, in my opinion, the true leaders of society are not politicians or the Church, but artists, because I believe art and all its facets are the easiest means of communication in order to interpret and discover the truth. "It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see." I firmly believe that is our way of seeing things -and trying to explain them to other people and make them understand what exactly we see- that is the only revolutionary movement that in its small way can change the world and that in the future will count for something in history.
