Niki's POV

I was taken aback by my brother's sudden apology. I clenched my jaw. Even though he sounded sincere, I knew he was up to something else. Heeseung was one to only make an effort, if he were to gain from it. I rubbed the back of my neck trying to come up with every possible scenario this could turn into. Now or in the nearby future. 'Niki, what are you going to do?' Jay asked. I wasn't used to him asking me questions, because he seemed like he always knew all the answers. I clenched my jaw. 'Thank you for apologizing to my servant, brother. I'm counting it won't happen again in the future. I want her to keep doing her job well.' I turned myself to Y/N. 'You may go back to work now.' She nodded and curtsied before walking away. I smiled. Even after everything that had happened, she still kept her head high. Another reason why I love her. Heeseung cleared his throat, trying to get my attention. I glared at him not amused. 'I'm sorry, brother. Although, I will remember the support you got from our brothers. I'm hoping you won't overthrow me and take the throne for yourself, seeing your side is bigger by one person.' He chuckled. 'Or is it?' I furrowed my brows and looked at my brothers. Jake, Jay and Sunoo. Was one of them going to betray me? Their faces didn't give anything away, as they were all just sheepishly staring at me and Heeuseung. I took a glance at Sunghoon and Jungwon. They were avoiding my eye-contact. I scoffed. Those betrayers. 'Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll be going back to my chambers.' Heeseung left with Sunghoon and Jungwon on his tail. 'I'll be off as well. I don't want to be seen by father, before he beats the crap out of me for causing trouble,' Sunoo hurried off to god knows where. That left Me, Jake and Jay. I darted my eyes between the two. Jay was smart enough to fool me, but Jake never talks so his betrayal would be more logical. Sunoo, however doesn't care enough about hierarchy and the importance of this, so it could easily be him as well. I sighed, before taking my leave as well. If I liked it or not, I was still obligated to follow class.

I tried to focus on the mathematical equations to distract myself from the power struggle that was happening. Even though Heeuseung was the eldest and most likely to be chosen for the throne, my father had always made us clear he would choose the next king not based on age but based on wisdom and strength. Heeseung knew I was his strongest opponent. Sunghoon and Jungwon would follow him to the end of the world, so neither of them was a threat. Jay was a smart person, but didn't care much for power nor did Sunoo. Jake didn't possess the social skills of a king, which left me. My father had always praised me for my wise and sympathetic words. I was physically and mentally strong. He'd always had a soft spot for Heeseung, because he was Mom's favorite. Being the eldest he had the benefit of knowing Mom the best. My mom passed away four months after my birth, so I didn't get to make memories with her. Stabbed through the heart with a human stake by a human. It was when Heeseung started to go downhill. Although he was very young at the time, he had created this kind of hatred towards humans and couldn't let it go. He had fed on the family of the culprit and killed them a year later. My brothers led it slide at first, but when it became a blood bath they created the no feeding on mundane rule.

I tried to clear my head of thoughts. I grabbed my hair out of frustration when it didn't work. I cracked my knuckles one by one trying to relax. It was a habit I'd created, when I was younger. I actually adapted it from Sunghoon. That was of course before he became Heeuseung's personal minion. I stared at the girl in front of me. Y/N was cleaning the classroom I was studying in. I was just waiting for the right moment to approach her. 'I'll be back in a minute, your highness. I'm just going to the bathroom for a second.' I nodded and my teacher exited the room. I immediately went up to her and hugged her from behind. 'Hey, you,' I said swinging her back and forth in my arms. She grinned at me from ear to ear. 'Hey.' My gaze turned serious. 'Are you okay?' 'I am.' I pursed my lips. 'I really am, Niki,' she said, while grabbing my hand trying to reassure me. I turned her around, so her chest was against my chest. 'I'm going to need more reassurance.' She smiled. 'Oh, really? What were you thinking about?' I put my index finger and thumb to my chin and pretended to be thinking hard. 'Maybe a kiss?' I asked in the cutest way possible. She chuckled. 'I don't know what you're doing to me, Niki,' she said before crashing her lips onto mine. I tried to slow down our kiss, but her lips were moving in such a rapid pace it was impossible to. Feeling her touch, it's just like magic. Such a rush. I'm scared of the feelings rushing through me. My entire heart is burning, aching for her. Without having to consume alcohol, I became drunk. Drunk on her. 'Say you love me,' I said against her lips. 'Until the end of the word,' she answered.
