Birthday buddy

  James was out celebrating his mates birthday with a few friends. He had not been feeling well all day but he decided to go out with them anyways.

  "James how is the little one doing?" Jake asked him as he placed his hand over his belly.

  "She has been kicking all morning. She apparently thinks my bladder is a trampoline. Please excuse me while I use the bathroom before I pee my pants." James said. He got up off the chair and went to the bathroom. On the way up there he felt a discomfort in his stomach. He placed his hand on it and felt it tightening.

  "Shit no. Stay in there one more day. I have am celebrating my mates birthday today." James said. He rubbed his stomach as he felt his daughter kicking. He quickly used the bathroom and went back to his friends.

  "Hey how about we go out to the movies. That new movie you have been wanting to see is not out in theatres." Nick told them. Everyone agreed and went out to the car. James, Jake, and Stephen sat in the back while Nick and Liam sat in the front seat. Through out the ride James kept rubbing his stomach.

  "Is everything alright? You seem uncomfortable there?" Stephen asked him.

  "Yeah I am fine. She is just being a brat and kicking at my ribs." James said. He felt a strong kick to his rib and winced a little before he rubbed at his stomach. He felt his stomach tighten again.

  "You didn't have to come out with us today. Your due date is tomorrow and you look about to pop. If you think you might be in labor you tell us and we will take you straight to the hospital." Nick told him from the drivers seat.

  "No I am fine. Today we are celebrating Jake's birthday and that is what we are going to do. I am not in labor." James said rolling his eyes. He hated that he was lying to them but he doesn't want them to spend Jake's birthday worrying about him. He knows that labor can take up to a whole day before he is ready to push the baby out so he wasn't worrying about it. After they got to the movie theater Nick bought the tickets while they all got snacks. They got into the theatre and sat down. By now the contractions were getting worse but they were still twenty minutes apart and the contractions didn't hurt too much so he continued to ignore it.

  "Hey guys I am going to the bathroom I will be right back." James said after the movie had ended. He went to the bathroom. The minute he sat down he felt a pop and a gush of water.

  "Shit I told you to stay in there a little bit longer. At least wait till we get to the house." James said. He finished in the bathroom he washed his hands and slowly made his way to his friends.

  "Hey I am getting a bit tired. I am sorry to cut this short but can you guys please drop me off at my house." James said. Everyone agreed and climbed into the car. The whole ride home the contractions got stronger and closer together. James bit his lip to keep from whimpering when the contractions hit. When he got to his house Jake helped him inside and promised to come over after they were done eating because the rest of the guys wanted to go out to eat. James agreed and laid down on the couch. The minute Jake left James got off the couch and started walking around the house. He noticed the contractions were almost on top of each other now.

  "Okay baby. If you want to come out now would be the time. You will have a birthday buddy with my mate Jake." James said as he walked around. An extremely painful contraction hit him. He cried out as his knees gave out and he fell.

  "Agh this hurts so much." He cried as another contraction hit. He felt the urge to push and listened. He cried out as he felt the baby shift down more. He leaned back against the couch as the contraction passed. He looked up and saw a mirror on the wall. His pulled himself up and pulled it off the wall. He made his way back to the couch but stopped and pushed when another contraction hit him. After it passed he sat the mirror up so he could see his progress and leaned against the couch again. He looked at the mirror and sat a small bulge against his opening.

  "I can't wait to meet you baby girl." He said. Another contraction hit and he pushed. He felt a burning at his entrance as he watched the top of the babies head start to emerge. He could see a full head of hair.

  "Aww you have a full head of hair. I hope you had my eyes as well." He said. He pushed down again and smiled when the contraction was over. The top of the babies head was almost out now. He leaned back against the couch to catch his breath before the next contraction hit him. He reached down and rubbed the top of the babies head.

  When the next contraction hit he pushed as hard and as long as he could. He continued pushing even after the contraction was over. He screamed as the babies head reached it's widest point.

  "Oh come on out baby. This hurts so much and I can't wait to meet you." He cried as he began to push again. Be felt a pop and a small amount of relief because the burning was finally gone. He looked down and saw that the baby's head was finally out. He checked and saw that the cord was not around the babies neck before he began pushing again. He shouted at he felt the first shoulder slide out. After he pushed the second shoulder out he started panting before he pushed the rest of he babies body out. He placed her against his chest and started cleaning out her mouth and nose. She let out a whimper before she started crying.

  "Hi baby girl. Welcome to this world." James said as he heard the door open.

  "James where are you. We brought you some food." He heard Nick call.

  "I am in the living room. Be quiet when you get in here though. Also Jake come in here first I have a surprise for you." James yelled as he grabbed a blanket off the couch to cover his lower half with. He heard footsteps enter the room and come around the couch. He looked up to see Jake standing there.

  "Jake this is your new birthday buddy. Now I need some help. Get some string and scissors to cut the cord with. Nick can you get a diaper and blanket for her. Stephen help me up off this floor so I can get cleaned up." James said. Everyone nodded and went off to do what they were told. Jake stayed beside James.

  "Come sit down so you can hold her. You have to stay right here because she is still attached to the cord." James said. He felt a cramping in his stomach as he handed the baby to Jake.

  "Are you okay?" Jake asked when he noticed him wince.

  "Yeah. I am fine." James said as everyone came back into the room. After the cord was cut Stephen helped James into the bathroom.

  "How about you sit on the toilet so you can deliver the placenta. It might be easier to clean it up that way. We will take care of the baby so you can get washed up. Shout if you need anything." Stephen told James as he lowered him onto the toilet. He left the room as James began to push the placenta out. After he heard it hit the inside of the toilet he stood up and started cleaning himself up. After he was done he slowly made his way back ot the living room where everyone else was. He took the baby and sat on the couch.

  "So what is her name going to be?" Jake asked him.

  "It will be Emerie Jane." James said as he looked down at the little girl who was laying in his chest. She started crying.

  "Here take her so I can take my shirt off. She is probably hungry." James said. Jake took Emerie from James as he took his shirt off. He laid her back on his chest and she latched on the minute she found his nipple. They all sat there the rest of the night. After a bit they put a movie on and watched that until they all decided to go to bed.
