Chapter 3 - the pollywog

It was the next morning and even though it was quite early already everyone in the Byer's house was awake and looking for Joyce's keys. I was looking with Will and Jonathan in the kitchen. ''A-Ha! I found them, hiding under some jeans. Sneaky, little, buggers.'' Joyce thanked Bob by kissing him on the cheek and then she turned to the 3 of us. ''Can you, Jonathan take Will to school today. I can not be late again.'' ''He's staying over now?'' Jonathan referred to Bob, ''I think he's nice.'' ''Thank you Tessa. Just take Will to school please.'' ''I can take him.'' Bob said overhearing our conversation. ''Will you make sure he get's in okay?'' ''Yeah of course. What do you say big guy? Wanna go ride in the Bob mobile?'' I love how that men is grown and a child at the same time. 

Right before I stepped out of the door someone knocked, I opened and saw Robin. ''Hi. I thought I'd pick you up.'' ''That's so kind of you, thanks! Can Jonathan come?'' ''Yeah of course.'' ''Jonathan!?'' I yelled into the kitchen. ''Wanna drive with us?'' ''Who's us?'' I heard a voice coming from the kitchen. ''Us in Robin and me.'' ''Give me a moment.'' Jonathan answered. I almost bumped into Joyce when I turned around. ''Who's this lovely girl?'' she asked. ''This is Robin.'' ''The friend who brought you home yesterday?'' Robin nodded and I whispered softly. ''She doesn't know yet.'' She answered with a simple nod. ''Well thank you for bringing Tessa home, I couldn't have done it and she was supposed to go with Jonathan. But he can be moody sometimes.'' ''It was no problem.'' ''Thanks for the compliment mom'' Jonathan said with a half-full mouth and struggling to put on his jacket. ''Let's go.'' I said ''Bye Joyce. See you.''

I had a free period in the 3rd hour. My original plan was to go to the library and try to make some math homework, but I bumped into Robin who also have happened to have a free period. ''Wanna watch the basketball team?'' She asked ''Why?'' ''It can help you figure out your sexuality. You're probably either bisexual or lesbian, like me.'' ''Okay sure, I was planning on making homework, but that sucks, so let's go.'' We came into the gym hall which smelled straight up like sweaty guys. When we had sit down the explanation wasn't even needed. The teams were split by shirts and no shirts. Steve was the captain of the first team and Billy of the second one. You can guess by those names which captain from which team was. ''Who's that guy'' Robin asked referring to Billy. ''Billy, new guy at school, total dick and the new jock of this school. Called me a prostitute in my scarlet witch costume yesterday. Dick wasn't wearing a shirt himself.'' ''Prostitute? What the fuck, you were totally covered.'' ''I know right, boy he was drunk.'' ''Well drunk or not, he's a dick, but good at the game.'' The score board indeed was showing that Billy's team was winning currently. The buzzer rang and I heard Nancy saying Steve's name. He walked off with her. ''Those are the people that sorta ditched you right?'' ''Yeh kinda, but Nancy was very drunk. Think they had a fight due to that. But if they hadn't ditched me I probably wouldn't have met you.'' ''Ahw thanks.'' Robin came in for a hug and the timing couldn't have been better cause Billy saw it. ''Ahw, prostitute, and nerd. I can add a jock to it very easily.

''You can quit right now. Last warning.'' ''And not have the oppurtinity to you be known as the guy who lost a fight from a girl, hell no.'' I put out my jacket and dropped it on the floor. I already knew all his moves, cause that was what he was thinking of. Oh yeah, since my power grew I can read people their minds, only if I want to and just the things they think about on that moment. He would first punch me in the stomach so I'd fall. Try again Billy, that's the most basic move in fighting. One of Billy's team mates would count down from 5 till 0 and on 0 whe'd start. ''5...4...3...2...1...0!'' Billy was the first one who attacked and indeed I was right. His fist went to my stomach but never arrived there. Because he had to bow his legs were open field. I kicked his legs from the floor and he hit it really hard. He tried to attack me again, now more out of anger. I knew all his moves cause he was thinking about them. It ain't cheating, he's the one that wanted to fight, wanted to prove he was the strongest. It was getting way to easy to avoid his punches and kicks. ''This is what you call fighting? I guess your little sister is better at it than you are.'' ''Don't call her my fucking sister. She ain't it.'' ''MR HARGROVE AND MS BYERS! WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING'' ''Fuck'' The headmaster of the school was standing in the opening with someone next to him some kid from Steve's team. ''MY OFFICE! BOTH OF YOU KNOW.''
