The weeks past and having Toby around made feel better. Toby had driven a car to find me but left in a tow away zone on the motorway. But I had a nagging feeling that Neil and Lauren haven’t let me go so easily. Uncle Josh and Toby seem to be getting along well, neither Toby nor Dean no about my nagging feeling but I had to tell my uncle. Uncle Josh told me to listen to my feelings because they may be right. And I believe him. I was leaning against the side wall of the cabin looking at the bushland when Toby scared me.
“Watch it,” I grumbled as I leant back up against the wall.
“God Summer, you have been so jumpy the last few weeks. Every time there is a bang you are on the on the ground with your gun in your hands,” Toby said. I walked away from Toby with my hands in the pockets of my hoddie. I could hear footsteps following me. “Summer, if there is something going on you have to tell me.”
“It doesn’t concern you,” I replied sourly, “and if you must know ask my uncle he may tell you. The only thing you need to know is I have a bad feeling. ”
“Fine, I may get more information from your uncle,” Toby snapped. He walked back into the cabin. I clenched my fists together in frustration.
What is wrong with me? I shouldn’t be a bitch towards Toby, I thought to myself.
“You’re angry at Toby. Aren’t you?” Dean asked. I spun around to see him walking towards me from the tiny garage near the cabin.
“A little,” I admitted. Dean stopped in front of me.
“Why are you angry?” Dean asked.
“Because he shouldn’t be here,” I replied.
“Well, you seemed a little happier when he turned up,” Dean said.
“You noticed,” I mumbled sheepishly. Dean nodded his head and I sighed. I heard a snap in the distance and I froze I looked at Dean and it seemed that he had heard it too.
“Quick inside,” Dean whispered. I nodded and we ran inside, we ran inside and Toby and Uncle Josh looked as with concern.
“Quick, close every door, wind and curtain and locked everything as well,” I instructed. “Is the garage locked?”
“Yes, the garage is locked,” Uncle Josh replied, “Why must we lock everything up?”
“Just do it and I will explain later, and grab your gun,” I replied. Uncle Josh nodded. We all ran in different directions, Uncle Josh ran to his room and Dean ran to the bathroom. I ran to the windows in the kitchen and closed, locked them and pulled the curtains. Toby closed and locked the front door, he then ran to my room.
I went to the lounge room and saw Dean had closed the windows and had drawn the curtains. Dean sat on the floor panting with a knife in his hands. I went around and checked everyone and once I noticed he did close and lock everything I ran to my room and grabbed my gun, after I got my gun I ran back to the lounge room and saw everyone in there. Uncle Josh and Toby had their guns.
“So what is this all about?” Toby asked.
“Dean and I heard, a tree branch snap,” I replied.
“You’re feeling is right again,” Toby gasped.
“Who told you about my feelings?” I asked.
“Your uncle did,” Toby replied.
“Of course he did,” I replied. We talked for about twenty minutes and the tension in the air began to fade.
