The Marsden mall, a place I hadn’t been to in months. We drove around to the back of the mall and parked there. I was the first one out of the car and Toby soon followed. Molly was staying behind with Dean so they could help us not be caught. Dean had his laptop and Molly had given Toby and Chris walkie-talkies. Toby had changed into some of Chris’s clothes, they were a tight fit but Toby felt better in different clothes. We all wore black and had a bag on our backs.
“There should be a vent that you guys can enter through over there,” Dean said and pointed to the place we should go. Uncle Josh, Toby, Chris and I walked over to where the vent should be. I found it and opened it; I climbed through the space and was surprised that I could fit in the tiny passage. The others soon followed me. We crawled looking for a way to escape into the mall.
It took us ten minutes until we found a place to crawl out. I slid from the vent and landed to the ground safely. I looked around the store and saw that we were in ‘City Beach’. I walked over to the women’s section and opened up my bag. I grabbed two pairs of bikinis that I liked and was happy when they were in my size. I heard someone behind me and I ran. My heart thudded loudly in my chest as I ran as fast as I could. The footsteps followed me and they were gaining on me.
This is it I am going to get caught, I thought. Toby walked around the corner.
“RUN!” I screamed at him, he looked at me and ran the way he had come I followed him. My pulse thudded loudly in my ears and I couldn’t hear a thing. I kept running and I tried not to panic, Toby skidded to a stop and I realized we had ran done a dead end. The dressing rooms. I walked into Toby’s opened arms in cringed as I heard the footsteps coming closer.
“Who are you?” a husky voice asked us.
“Who are you?” Toby asked.
“Answer my question first,” the voice called back to us. I then realized that it was a man.
“No,” Toby said sternly.
“Hmm, I guess I have a hostage. Where’s your friend?”
“As if I will tell you that. My friend probably got away.”
“Well, when your friend told you to run I knew she was a female.”
“Hurt her and I will kill you,” Toby said through gritted teeth. I unwrapped my arms from around Toby’s waist and walked towards the man in front of us.
“Feeling tough are we?” he asked in a teasing voice.
“No, but you will be feeling some pain,” I replied. I punched the unknown man in the face and he let out a moan. I threw another punch and hit him in the nose. I ducked just in time as the man threw a punch at me.
“Wouldn’t hit a girl I hope,” I said confidently. I kicked the man in the stomach and I sent him flying. He landed with a loud thud! On the ground, I smiled; it felt good hitting someone once again. Adrenaline coursed through my body and I felt strong and powerful.
“Summer, go get your clothes and I will find Chris and Josh and see if they are okay,” Toby whispered to me. I nodded and walked back towards the female clothes. I got four singlets, three t-shirts, two pairs of shorts and jeans. From the clothes I had backed to break my Uncle out of jail I now have seven singlets, five t-shirts, four pairs of shorts and jeans and I now have two bikinis. I found Chris, Toby and Uncle Josh waiting near the vent.
“Are you okay?” Uncle Josh asked me.
“I’m fine,” I replied.
