did you really think i was about to disrespect my first love? ✋😭

this gorgeous man is possibly the most unproblematic member of one direction (he's still a member, don't question me bc i bite and it's a sore subject okay) and yet he's the one that gets the most, if not all, of the hate. make it make sense.

he deserves an apology from at least 3/4 of the one direction fandom, as well as the other members of the band.

people, including the other boys, stood around whilst he had racist and islamphobic comments thrown at him for being the only poc in the group, like it was okay? like it was acceptable and totally normal? aren't people supposed to defend their "friend" and try help them get justice for this kind of shit instead of remaining silent or laughing?

not to mention that when he left, due to mental health reasons + simply wanting to live out of the limelight for a while, some of the boys (particularly louis which breaks my heart) didn't speak too fondly of zayn. i think the only one who has pretty much consistently spoken positive about zayn, is niall and maybe liam?
meanwhile, he was out there saying stuff like this:

i know a lot of people also dislike zayn because of the whole drama surrounding louis's x-factor performance following the death of his mother. he invited all the boys, including zayn, and i'm pretty sure zayn was the only one who didn't turn up. i get why louis would be upset by that, but i can't say i would want to sit around people who talking badly about he publicly and allowed racist/islamphobic comments to be directed at me. simon cowell, who we all know ain't shit, was also there. i highly doubt zayn, or anyone who worked with c*well, would want to be around him considering the way he treated people under his label. the whole band where being overworked, whilst minors, by an extremely abusive management team so i'm surprised any of them wanted to be there tbh.

whilst in the band, zayn also developed anorexia. if you watch the "this is us" film, you'll see that they literally got 10 mins of sleep. that on top of an eating disorder is literally a disaster waiting to happen so blaming him for wanting to leave us just straight up insensitive and selfish. he also suffers from anxiety, so living a lifestyle with reporters hanging down your throat isn't exactly ideal. that's probably another reason he wouldn't have wanted to go to the x-factor performance.

s*mon c*well also launched a negative PR campaign against zayn. this basically meant that there wasn't allowed to be positive articles about him, his songs couldn't be played on radios, etc. . . he was basically black listed due to c*well's ridiculous amount of power & influence that he did not deserve.

also, as much as i ADORE perrie + little mix, their fandom absolutely ripped into zayn (equally, a lot of zayn's fans hated on perrie so it did go both ways. only, the hate towards perrie over the split seems to have massively faded now.) after the engagement was broken off. idk what happened, idc what happened. all i know is that she accused him of doing it over text, he denied it, blah blah blah. their relationship, not mine, not YOURS, so honestly who gives a fuck? it's dumb to try "cancel" someone over a relationship you have no business talking about. they were cute whilst it wasted but zayn is clearly happier with gigi and perrie is happier with alex. you don't have to bring one down to build the other up y'all, be happy for them both 🥺

zayn was literally the only member to post about palestine, i mean obviously zionist styles was never gonna but i expected more from the other boys. he was also the only one to not sign an israel flag.

call him problematic all you want, but at the end of the day do you really have reasons to call him that? maybe instead directioners, specifically harries because they're toxic+annoying as fuck, can pull their heads out of their asses and realise that THEY are stanning the problematic one. zayn deserved better. and if you disagree, then just stop reading now bc i don't wanna be associated with racists or islamphobes.
