Ch.1 - Achillea Millefolium
The job board at the guild usually always had at least one exciting request. A request that had to do with beast or monster hunting, to break a curse, to stop a crime or something else of the same thrilling nature. It was always exciting to see what sort of options of adventure the person who was looking for a request had.
But for the last month, there had been a distinct lack of any of these highly adventurous, if not also dangerous jobs. Therefore, those who tended to only go for those exciting requests were not only starting to feel their boredom reach their peaks, but also feel how empty their pockets were becoming.
The thing about dangerous missions was that they paid extremely well. So well that at times going on a single mission of this caliber a month was enough to pay for that month's living expenses and still have plenty to spare for some fancy foods, and maybe even a weapon repair.
So since the requests were dry, it left several guild members desperate to make money. One of these such people was the Dragonbourne himself, Bakugou Katsuki. The ash-blonde male was usually very good at saving his money and making sure to have enough in his emergency fund.
But after a month of no work and having to use his emergency fund to survive and pay his rent at the guild's own personal dorms, he was desperate to make some cash and a lot of it. Thus, the male found himself looking over the picked-over request board.
There was not a lot, to begin with: a request for someone to use cleaning magic at a home, another asking for a water mage to clean a local fountain, and even some asking for charms to increase luck, wealth, looks, etc. The board really was full of pathetic quests, but he needed to pick one.
He wouldn't be so desperate, to begin with, if it had not been for yesterday's incident. Since the board had been boring, Bakugou had made a habit of training up his skills nearly every day. Yesterday was no different, aside from that Kaminari and Kirishima tagged along to the training grounds outside the guild to also practice.
Bakugou was using his scimitar, wanting to improve his swordsman skills. So he was much more focused on slicing the straw enemies before him than paying attention to what his two companions were up to.
Kirishima had been responsible, practicing his own magic. He was steadily increasing the speed at which he could turn himself into not only a dragon but also how quickly he could turn his skin into scales while also keeping a semi-human look. The half-dragon was no bother to the dragonbourne.
The one who was a bother... was Kaminari. The electric mage had a habit of always trying to use spells that were at a higher level than he was at. And yesterday's practice was no different. Kaminari had decided to try and summon an entire thunderstorm himself.
It started off well, the male able to make some clouds and thunder rumble. But when it came time for him to use a strike of lightning... that was where the trouble started. Kaminari couldn't aim the lighting, thus, the bolts of electricity started going haywire.
Kirishima nearly got hit by one and managed to alert Bakugou in time as another bolt was headed to the ash-blonde. Bakugou turned in time to raise his blade and block the lightning with his blade. But the result was that his blade was destroyed.
Kaminari's stupid attempt to use stringer magic, resulted in Bakugou's blade literally shattering. Thus after nearly beating Kaminari six feet under, Bakugou was left to find a new blade. And after finding one that he liked at the local blacksmith... he realized that buying it would use all of his remaining money.
So that was how he ended up on this quest. In the middle of the woods. Looking for a meadow.
It was the highest paying job that there was... but that was because of its request.
