Ch.27- Laurus Nobilis

Patience had never been one of his strong suits. He could recall times in his childhood when he would rush into a situation and nearly get himself hurt or worse because he was craving to win and win quickly. His mother slapped the back of his head around a good few times for that, especially when he started learning how to use a blade.

But as he had found out as of late, being patient for things he had no control over... was even harder to put up with. He really tried to. He did. But dammit... how could someone stay asleep for this long! It had been three months!!

Every night after he'd finish up his usual exploits and fights, he'd hope he'd walk in and see your smiling face and would greet him with that soft and sincere voice of yours. But every night for the last three months- he'd only be greeted by your soft breathing and hidden eyes.

Lady Liriel came around often still. There were times Bakugou would come home and the Elvian healer was just finishing up whatever sort of treatment that she thought you'd need at that moment. No words were really ever exchanged between him and the Elf, but when she would finish and make her way to the door, Bakugou would always nod his head at her.

At first, Liriel would simply walkout, then she began to nod her head back at him. And now, the moment Liriel would finish her round of healing, she'd meet Bakugou's eyes of her own accord and wait for him to give her his silent thanks and acknowledgment of her skills. After she would pace to the door and turn around to face him. She would curtesy to him before she left. She was smiling at times as well.

He'd see Lady Vanadis often too, as Lillie must often beg to come around to see him. The small Elf girl had taken a liking to Bakugou and would often come by and exchange things the little girl deemed as valuable in exchange for Bakugou telling her about what the outside world was like. She seemed to enjoy his tales of adventure the most, so he'd get to boast about his exploits often.

Vanadis would remain close by, often going through the village's complaints and latest issues while stilling at Bakugou's small kitchen table. It had taken him a while to notice, but she never seemed to actually get any work done when she came to keep an eye on her talkative and sometimes overly friendly daughter. This detail only made Bakugou curious if she too... was interested in his tales.

Edlin and Merlion had also started to become less cold towards him as of late. Edlin, the leader of the village's guard and armory, would always take his new blade after his work ended and it would be returned to Bakugou the next day. Always polished and freshly sharpened and the enchantment reapplied so it would stay strong.

Merlion was the Elf in charge of the structure of the village physically and had approved of a few of Bakugou's requests toward making his home feel a little more comfortable to the Dragonbourne. It had taken him five months of nagging the Elf, but Merlion finally gave in and allowed Bakugou to turn one of the spare rooms he had not used into a training room. On the condition that his dragon magic didn't actually burn anything or hurt anyone.

He had been here for nearly a year and it seemed as if the Elves were finally starting to speak to and respect him. It certainly wasn't anything to write home about, but their cold gazes were melting and they looked to possibly even trust him and find merit in his reasons for being among them. Everyone in the village looked to feel this way. Everyone aside from one.

Lady Fleur.

The chief magical researcher and the strongest magic wise in this entire place. She still looked at him with those eyes of hers that labeled him as a dangerous and vile creature. Her words of address to him reflected it, even more, seeing as she still called him by what she saw him as: a beast.
