Ch.29- Trifolium
He found out that leaving in the mornings was now a lot harder and coming back in the evenings was a lot easier. The opposite of what each had been for the months he had been here. Maybe it was because he had someone to look forward to seeing when he came home to, but who was he to know? All he knew was that he liked to come back to that small little tree-carved hut that had become like home to him, especially lately.
Today was no different.
Edlin had once more rudely shoved him off and Bakugou headed back. As he pushed the cloth door aside, his eyes immediately met your form. His carmine red eyes blinked when he saw you standing and he came forward at a pace he knew was much too quick and worried for the person he tried to appear as to others.
But that false image of himself no longer existed when he was around you. He was just himself. Sure, he was still a loud and swear-filled adventure, but he didn't need to pretend he didn't care for you. Not since he found out what his true feelings were and that you reciprocated them. And especially since he had gotten you back a few months ago.
"Hey." He spoke, coming in and saw that you had started to make dinner.
"Oh! You're back already..." You spoke sadly. "Darn it... I thought I started prepping early enough this time too..."
He frowned when he saw the shame on your features, but quickly moved forward. He rubbed the top of your head gently and your (eye color) hues looked at him. His heart buzzed and you smiled at him.
"Guess I'll have to help you make dinner again then." He told you and looked out at the minuscule chopping you had already started on. "Some kind of shitty plant meal again...?"
You gave him a sympathetic smile. "Sorry... but bringing meat here would be a bad idea. The Elves don't like us enough already."
Bakugou clicked his tongue. "Pretentious fuckers."
You snorted and tried to playfully bat at his arm. However, it seemed your body had reached its point. Your legs gave out and your arms limply fell to your sides. Had it not been for Bakugou standing right there and being able to snag you into his warm and safe embrace, it would have been the floor that would have you would have met.
Your brows knit together and you moved your head down in shame. Tears prickled on the corners of your eyes and you tried to not let the sounds of pain escape from your throat and show the Dragonbourne just how rough you had it right now.
"You've got to fucking take it easy..." Bakugou scolded you. "You know how to fucking walk again... but your body still ain't strong."
"I know." You muttered into his skin. "I just... wanted to do something for you. I feel like I haven't done anything for you."
"Hey." He spoke in a serious tone and lifted your chin up until you were staring into his hues of ruby. "I'm standing here right in front of you, ain't I? That's cause of you. You've done enough for me and it'll take me the rest of my damn life to fucking repay you."
"It was a reckless decision though..." You breathed out, know very aware of what your last casted spell had done to everyone, him especially.
"You came back though and I can use my magic again." He told you. "It took a fucking while... but it worked the fuck out, huh? So stop pushing your stupid pointy-eared self..."
Your lips curved upwards for a moment and a giggle escaped your lips. He looked at you, fighting how his own lips wanted to move up because he had managed to make you laugh. But he held strong and allowed this wonderful light and fulfilling feeling remain inside of him, not yet ready to outwardly show it just yet.
