Rebecca was waking into Seattle Grace Hospital for her official first day as Head of Cardio.

She had just arrived back in Seattle the previous evening and her night was mostly her unpacking and crying over the fact that she left so much back in LA.

Rebecca had always been a hardworking and determined in everything she put her mind to and being the head of her own department wasn't going to be any different. She wanted to thrive and in order for that to happen she had to be dedicated to her job, and she always had been as she adored being a surgeon. Many believed that the influence of 5 older siblings that were doctors must be the reason she is a doctor. However, being brought up in the world of medicine had an impact on her love for it but she always was her own person. That why she chose a specialty none of her siblings were in - Cardiology.

Rebecca was walking through the halls of the hospital with Richard. He was talking her through everything she needed to know and said it all with a massive smile as the happiness he felt for Rebecca joining his team could not be put into words.

Rebecca and Richard had always had a special bond ever since she was his resident. The way her mind worked always left him speechless as the sky was her limit. Nothing was impossible for Rebecca Shepherd and Richard knew that better than anyone. She was and still is the best resident he has worked with in his career. They always worked extraordinarily well together as they are so similar in how dedicated they are to the job - always going the extra mile. It's one of the major reasons he wanted her to be his Head of Cardio.

Rebecca was looking and the surgical board and saw that Izzie was down as her resident for her heart transplantation. Despite, not knowing Izzie well and not usually a judgmental person she judged Izzie for her actions. She also believed that Izzie didn't really like Cardio and just wanted to be on her service to annoy Cristina, as both women seemed to hate each other.

Rebecca removed Stevens from the board and swapped it out with Grey. While in the middle of doing that she was approached by Mark - who she had yet to see since arriving back.

"Rebecca" He said as he approached her with a smile.

Rebecca ignored his friendly approach and bluntly stated "I'm taking Meredith Grey from you this week. Her mother was a good surgeon and I want to see what she's like since she is sleeping with my brother."

"Well, that's not how it works here. You get assigned a resident. There's a schedule." He said looking at her while she continued to look at the board. In that moment Mark was devastated as he thought Rebecca working at Seattle Grace would allow a possibility for him to show her that he still loved her but the way it was going only a few minutes in - it seemed harder than expected.

If only Mark knew that the reason Rebecca was blunt was because Naomi's words continued to repeat in her head that she still loved Mark. And she believed the only way to possibly get through working with him was to avoid him at every point not work related, as she had to keep professional.

"Well, the schedule doesn't take to account certain things" she said looking at him for the first time there was a brief silence before they both snapped out of their moment and Mark cleared his thought before asking "Like what?"

Rebecca instantly turned to look back at the board before continuing "Like the fact that I don't want Stevens."

Mark's head automatically went to look at her he saw a little sadness in her eyes that would be oblivious to anyone other than him. He knew about the Izzie and George situation from Callie and he knew that the fact that she didn't want Stevens on her service was personal.
