Being the sidekick of All Might meant that he had access to the recovery room where Toshinori was between surgeries. It was rather sad. The list of allowed visitors for All Might was, like all other Hero's divided into several parts. Colleagues, including police, representatives from the Hero Public Safety Commission and others from their agency, and family. All Might's visitor registry had no family. There were some reporters sniffing around the hospital but they were being kept back by security. The police hadn't needed to visit and the HPSC was dealing with him.
Hence Toshinori Yagi hadn't had many visitors. To be fair, he hadn't been awake even if there were visitors. He was awake now but Mirai had doubts as to what he'd remember. Despite the best healers being brought in, he had enough drugs running through his system to take down a herd of wildebeest. Mirai didn't care about that. The Doctors reported that barring an unforeseen complication, such as an infection, then Toshinori would survive.
All Might's survival was still in doubt. It wasn't unheard of for Heroes to continue being Heroes bearing injuries from the job but they weren't the number one Hero, and they didn't have injuries anything near as extensive as Toshinori.
Even so, as more information came to light about All For One's activities, the government would probably accept the loss of the Symbol of Peace for the removal of the man they knew as Hisashi Riji. Given Toshinori's personal stake in the matter, he might also consider retirement an acceptable cost as well. Mirai wasn't sure.
"Where?" Toshinori's voice cracked on the question.
At least it was an easy one to answer. "Tsu General Hospital, in the Private Wing."
Mirai saw All Might think about that. It was painful to see him struggle with the thought when it was such a simple one. But the Doctors did have him on the good stuff.
"All For One?" The question was slow but there was an intent there that surprised Mirai. It spoke of a focus he didn't think Toshinori could have with that many drugs in his system.
"Gone," he assured All Might.
Yagi tensed, his eyes widening and for a moment Sir Nighteye wondered what was wrong. "Dead!" He added the correction. Gone could be misconstrued to say that the man had gotten away. This time, he hadn't.
The additional word immediately relaxed the Number One Hero and Mirai was surprised to see how much he sagged back into the mattress of the bed. Even Toshinori's eyes seemed to relax at the news. "Need to tell Gran Torino," he said softly.
Mirai nodded. He didn't fully understand the relationship between All Might and Gran Torino but he knew that the old Hero would be thankful to hear that All For One was gone. "I'll see to it," he promised.
Yagi nodded, and even though he'd barely been awake, Mirai could see that he was fading. "What about the child?" He asked.
"What child?" Mirai answered with his own question.
Toshinori frowned. "Izu-ku?" He said the name slowly, as if he wasn't sure he remembered correctly.
It wasn't a question Sir Nighteye expected. The kid was not important. "Naomasa is looking," he replied.
That caused All Might to frown. "Not..." he grimaced and coughed.
Sir Nighteye moved to support him as blood dripped from his mouth. "You are still healing! You need to be calm," he admonished.
"Should be with his mother."
"Naomasa is looking," Mirai repeated.
Toshinori knew what that meant and Mirai was surprised at the reproachful look he got but before All Might could say anything more, the drugs in his system won and his eyes closed.
