Chapter 3

I walk up to Rick, feeling Carl's eyes watch me as I walk. "Hey, (Y/N) I asked the governor of our community,( sorry I'm not sure what her name is) and she said you can stay here as long as you can pull your own weight." Says Rick as I stop in front of him. I gasp in excitement, "REALLY?? OH THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!" I almost scream and run up to Rick, hugging him so hard that I squeeze out all of the air in his lungs."Ugh... your....welcome...cant... BREATHE!" Said Rick. I realize that I am almost suffocating my savior, and let him go composing myself. " Oh.. hehe, sorry." I said sort of awkwardly. " It's fine. Our governor said you can stay with us in one of our 2 houses over there." he says, pointing in the direction of the houses. Then, Carl appears behind me." Come on, I'll show you around." he says with a smile. He starts to walk off so I follow him down the road through the town. 'These houses are like mansions!!' I think to myself, looking at all of the wonderful buildings. Carl must have noticed my excitement and lowly chuckled, " Ha, yah they are really big. I never thought I would see houses this big and pristine again." he says looking at the ground. "When did your group arrive?" I ask curiously. "Well, about a week ago. This guy found us in the woods and brought us here." He replied still looking at the ground as we walk. "Here we are. These are our two houses. Pick which ever one you want to stay in. I'm gonna go check on Judith." He says starting to walk to the blue-grey house on the left. "Wait, who's Judith?" I ask jogging to catch up with him. "Oh, I guess I should introduce you to everyone first. Well, Judith is my baby sister an-" but I cut him off there." OH MY GOSH!!! A BABY??!?? I WANNA SEEEEEEEE!!!" I almost yell at him. He slightly flinches at my sudden outburst of energy and volume. " O-ok! Just don't yell. You might wake her up." he says laughing a little mid-sentence. " Ha, ok. Sorry." I say looking at the ground blushing slightly out of embarrassment and because his laugh was kind of cute... WOAH girl! Slow your roll! Get to know him better before you start crushin' on him! Sheesh! Anyway, we walk up the white steps with a little bright red blood on the last step and the deck.(from where Daryl gutted the opossum)We walk into the nice house, Carl quietly closes the door, trying not to wake the sleeping child. I slowly approach her crib as Carl reaches in and picks up Judith. I silently gasp."Carl, she's beautiful." Her short blonde hair lays in a mess atop her little head. She quietly giggles as she opens her bright blue eyes that match Carl's. I look at her and smile and wave. She giggles even more as she sees a nice new person. She reaches out her little chubby baby arms, signaling to me she wants me to hold her."Come here sweetheart." I say in a calm baby-ish voice. Carl hands her to me, and I grasp her tiny frame tightly enough to hold her little body in my arms. Her sweet innocent blue eyes look up into my (e/c) ones and she puts her hands on my shoulders and hugs me. I hug her back, hugging her closer to my body. I remember Carl's there and look up to find him watching Judith and I intently. "Wow. she took onto you really fast (Y/N)." he says a little surprised. "Yah, I guess I've always been good with little ones." I say looking at Judith one last time before trying to put her back into her crib. But she starts to whine and cry when I try to put her down. "Well honey-bunches, I guess I'll just have to hold you." I say smiling at the child. She giggles and grabs onto a piece of my hair and yanks. "OW!" I say getting my hair out of her hand. She just giggles and claps at my reaction. Carl and I join in her laughter.
