Chapter 5

I woke up the next day with the sun shining through my window and into my eyes. I shield my face from the big orange ball in the sky, then I notice something.....Judith is gone. My eyes widen in surprise as I bolt out of bed looking for her. But, as I run down the stairs I see she is in her crib, sleeping peacefully. I sigh and rub my forehead and sit down in one of the chairs in the kitchen. I was so stressed that I didn't notice someone's footsteps approaching me. "Hey, you ok? I heard you rush down here." I turn my head to see Carl, with a slight bed-head. And no shirt on....just pants. I blush and turn away to look at Judith for a distraction. "Uh.. yah I didn't know where she was so I sort of panicked." I said sleepily. "Oh yah sorry, that was my fault. I was upstairs and I heard her crying, and you were still asleep so I brought her down here so she wouldn't wake you up." he said rubbing the back of his neck. "Oh, ok that's fine. Its just my 'survival mode' sort of kicked in when I saw she was gone." I said awkwardly. "Oh, that's ok. I get it. Anyway, do you want to come meet some of my friends? They live just down the road from here." said Carl. "Umm.. I don't know..." I said, not wanting to leave Judith. "They have comic books an video games~" he said in a sing-songy voice. Now that caught my attention. "R-really? Video games?" I said getting excited. I never thought that I would see those things ever again. "Yah! You want to come? I'm getting dressed to go there right now." he asked. "Yah! I love video games!" I said very excited. "Ok cool. I'm going in about 10 minutes." he said turning around to go to his room. "Ok!" I said going back upstairs to find some clothes to put on.

In one of the closets I found a (favorite color) t-shirt and some jeans. I brush my hair, and my teeth in the nice bathroom and put my hair in a ponytail. I walk downstairs to find Carl by the front door talking to Michonne about something. She says something that makes Carl blush madly and her laugh. I walk down the rest of the steps and say, "What's so funny?" Both of their heads shoot over to my direction. "N-nothing!!" Carl says quickly. Michonne just laughs even harder. "Yah... nothing." she says laughing mid sentence. "Um ok. Well are we going yet?" I ask. "Right now actually." says Carl. We leave out the front door, leaving Michonne to laugh by herself. We reach the house with a sculpture in front of it... I think it's an owl? I don't know. We walk in through the open garage door and enter the house. "Jesse! It's Carl! I invited (Y/N) over! Is that ok?" Yells Carl to no one in particular. Then a female voice somewhere in the house yells, "Yah Carl that's fine! She can stay for lunch if she'd like!" Carl looks to me for approval. "Yah! Lunch sounds good." I said. He smiled and nodded and led me up some stairs to what I assume I his friends room. We enter and there are two boys and one girl that look all around my age. "Guys, this is (Y/N). We found her in the woods the other day." ( I forgot the guy's and the girls names so I improvised. When I figure them out, I'll fill the names in) "(Y/N), this is Zak, Jesse's son, Greg, from down the road, and Sid. I guess you can figure her out." he said walking up to an old computer." Hi." I said kind of shyly. "Hey" said Greg. "Meh.." said Sid, not even looking up from her book. "Hey~" said Zak smirking. "Zak, don't scare the girl. She just got here." said Greg. "Fiiiinnnee...." said Zak, folding his arms. "So, (Y/N). What video games do you like to play?" Asked Carl booting up the ancient computer. "Umm... well before the world came crashing to a halt, my favorite video game was Alien Isolation."(I don't own that. And I know it's a recent game but I really like it so I put it in here) "Perfect! We actually have that." said Greg. "Really? Cool!" I say. Carl opens the game on the computer.

~Time Skip to lunch time~

"LUNCH! Come down and get some!" Yelled Jesse upstairs to us. When she yelled, I got distracted from the game and the alien ate my face off. "Awwww man! I didn't get to save my game!" The 3 boys chuckled and Sid actually looked up above her book and smiled. "Woah Sid! I didn't know you could smile!" Said Zak teasingly. She shot him a glare. Man, if looks could kill, his head would have exploded. He put his arms up in defense. Carl, Greg and I laugh. We all walk downstairs to go eat, but Jesse stops us. "Woah, hold on. Go wash up first." she said pointing at the bathroom. We all say 'Ok' and go to wash our hands. Carl goes first, then Greg, then Zak then me. I start to wash my hands as Zak dries his hands on a towel. Carl and Greg had already left so Zak and I were alone in the bathroom. "So (Y/N)" he says breaking the silence, getting done drying his hands. I finish washing my hands and take the towel from him to dry my hands. "Are you and Carl together or what?" His sudden question makes me jump and blush madly. "W-what?" Is say all flustered. "Well you guys are together 24/7, and whenever Carl looks at you, he gets all spaced out and blushes a lot." he says smirking. "N-no! What are y-you t-talking about? W-we aren't together!" I said, my face as red as a tomato. He just laughs and says, "Ok. Whatever you say Mrs. Grimes!" He says with a giant smirk. "S-shut up!!" I say punching him in the arm. He just laughs and walks out. I follow him glaring at the back of his head. 'Darn you Zak! I know Carl and I hang out a lot but just because his group found me! That doesn't mean I like him THAT way..... or do I?' My thoughts are cut off when we reach the kitchen. There are peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on the table. We all grab one and start eating. Carl notices that my face is really red. "Hey, you ok (Y/N)? Your face is all red." asks Carl. "Huh? Oh yah... I-I'm fine." I said looking down at my sandwich. Zak just can't hold it anymore and bursts out laughing at our awkwardness. Carl gives him a bewildered look. "What's so funny?" He asks. "Oh, nothing man. You and (Y/N) are just cute together. So... when's the wedding?" He says with a wide smirk. That makes me and Carl both choke on our sandwiches which makes everyone laugh, even Sid. Both of our faces are red as a tomato, as we try to swallow. "S-shut up dude! said Carl punching him in the arm kind of to hard. "Hey! Ouch man! I was just joking!" He said chuckling and rubbing his arm. I giggle at his pain. We finish our lunch in silence.
