After the silent walk, we arrived at the coffee shop. There was hardly anyone in the shop. We sat at the booth, Abbey at my left and Alex on my right. The waitress comes at our table, "Hello, what would you like?"
"I'd like a latte." I spoke. She smiles and nods. She looks at Abbey.
"I'd like a black coffee." Abbey smiles.
"Okay, and Alex would you like the usual?" The waitress asked him.
"You know it." Alex smiles. With that the waitress leaves. It was quiet and awkward. I notice Alex staring at me, "You look like Matt's fiancé."
"Who's Matt?"
"Oh right, he's a friend of mine. I'd thought you'd know." He quietly says.
"It's fine." I smiled.
It stays quiet again, our drinks come to us. As I was drinking my latte, Abbey proudly said, "Did you enjoy Lily dancing?"
I ended up choking on my latte.
They look at me, and then at each other.
"She was lovely, the way her body moved showed more than just sexual attractions. The way she moved showed her attitude and a bit of her personality. I don't know, that just may be me." Alex said.
I have to admit I blushed, and Abbey grinned at me. "Did you know that Lily is the girl sitting next to you?"
He seemed shocked, I looked at him and bit my lip. He's blushing so much that his face is entirely red.
"I-I didn't know you were-"
"It's fine."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
It gets quiet again, then before Abbey speaks up.
"Shut up Abbey." I smiled.
She giggles, "Oh you know me so well!"
I laughed, "Yeah I do."
I look back at Alex, he's almost done with his frappucino.
"I'm guessing you're not tired at all?" I smirked.
"Oh, I am. I just need all the caffeine I can get." He smirks.
"What for?"
"Band practice."
I look at him while raising a brow, "You're in a band? No way! What type of genre are you?"
"We're alternative," He smiles. "I guess you never heard of us."
"No I haven't, I'm sorry. What's the group of your band?"
"Arctic Monkeys."
"Sounds really lovely, I love the name." I smile.
He scoffs, believing I was sarcastic.
"No no! It's true! I do love it!" I smile.
He looks at me with a smile, "Thanks. We have a few albums out."
"Really?!" Abbey interrupted.
I look at her, smiling while shaking my head.
"Yeah we do, if you want, you can come to our band rehearsals. We have a concert coming up this Friday and you're welcome to come. VIP pass you know?" He smiles, hoping we'd say yes.
I look at Abbey, her face is full of excitement. I took a deep breathe and smiled, "Okay."
Abbey was happy that she ended up spilling the rest of her dark coffee on my lap. It. Fucking. Burned. Me. I got up and ran to the bathroom to dry myself. Abbey came from behind.
"I'm so FUCKING sorry." She panicked.
I chuckled, "it's fine. It was an accident."
"I know but still! Here. Thank god I brought shorts." Abbey gave me the pair of shorts, the were high waisted shorts that rode up my butt. I put the pants in my messenger bag. "He seems interested in you." Abbey smiles.
"Yeah because I danced in lingerie."
"My ass, dude you don't see the way he looks at you."
"I don't want to go into relationships. You know how bad the last one was.."
We remained silent.
"I know, I'm sorry." Abbey hugged me. "He just seems a bit different from the rest. You have to get his phone number by tonight."
"I don't know Abbey, I just don't feel ready. Hell, I just met the guy." I looked in the mirror and fixed my hair.
"Fine, you won't ask for his number." Abbey leaves the restroom, along with me behind her. Alex is talking to the waitress, I'm assuming he's talking about what happened. We met up, and he looks at my legs, "Where's your pants? Aren't you cold?" He asks me.
I look down then up at him, "No, not really."
"You alright? Were you burned?" The waitress asked me. "Do you need ice?"
I smiled and shook my head, "I'm fine, thank you."
"The name is Erika." She smiled.
"Lily." I smiled.
Alex puts his hand on my shoulder, "we should get going."
I nod, along with Abbey. We said goodbye to Erika and as we left the caffe, Abbey blurts out, "Lily's too shy to ask for your number."
I turned to her, "Shhhh! Abbey!"
Alex smiles, "Sure."
He gives me his phone to enter my number and enters my number into his phone. I give it back. I start to burn up with blush. He notices and smiles. It's getting a little awkward, we continued walking home.
