Sasuke, by then had finished his fish and his attention was on the crackling fire. He had had a nightmare last night, and he was sure Naruto was aware of it. Fuck, he was embarrassed.
As Sasuke watched the flaming fires, it reminded him a little of his childhood.
It's just like camping.. He thought as his eyebrows furrowed painfully.
Itachi always used to take him camping back then. Sasuke remembered and his eyes watered.
Stop. Don't cry. Don't cry, you fucking weakling. He's gone.. and there's nothing you can do about it.. Sasuke told himself. As much as he tried, he couldn't stop the desperate tears blurring his eyes.
'I miss him so damn much..' Sasuke gripped his hands into a fist.
Naruto, unaware of Sasuke's state, got up and stretched. "It's late." He yawned, turning his attention to Sasuke. We should go...to.. sleep..." Naruto words were broken, shifted unsurely as he saw Sasuke breaking down.
"Um.. The fuck are you crying for..? Are you..good?" Naruto asked, awkwardly scratching his head.
"Y-Yeah. I'lll be there in a bit." He said, almost a whisper, just loud enough for Naruto to hear.
"Alright then." Naruto figured it was about his brother. It was always about Itachi. Were they really that close? Naruto had no idea, he never had close ties with anyone before. This was so new to him and he had no fucking clue on what to do or say. The blonde silently sighed.
He was about to go into the shelter, but then paused. "By the way."
"I'm sure your brother would be proud of you." That was the last thing the blonde stated before going inside. Hopefully that would cheer him up a little so he'd stop crying.
But that was the only thing it took for Sasuke to completely break.
That night, Naruto woke up to Sasuke squirming in his sleep.
"Itachi.." He whispered as the raven started crying."
"Please don't go.."
Naruto felt an urge to reach out to Sasuke and wake him up, but then decided against it. He thought it would probably be best for Sasuke to let everything out in his system. Naruto knew Sasuke was grieving, and he figured he wouldn't interfere.
