They've been on the road for days now. Two, to be precise, and Naruto hasn't gotten an ounce of sleep since then. The only time he would somewhat 'rest' would be a quick stop to drink a few gulps of water from his bag and some food pills, because they just had to keep going.
The blond didn't eat much of the little food they had left, maybe just barely less than half. He had to save the rest for Sasuke, because only God knows when the boy last ate. The dark haired male has probably been living off of sheer willpower and adrenaline alone. That amount just enough to keep him alive and going.
Naruto wished he could stop worrying about the boy, but soon after they had took off, Sasuke had fell asleep. Or at least, that's what Naruto had thought what happened.
But it turned out that Sasuke had fallen unconscious. It was most likely due to his high intake of exhaustion and hunger. Of course, whenever Naruto found this out, he had panicked to the maximum. He had almost thought the boy was dead, but, thankfully, whenever he checked the boy's wrist there was still a pulse.
Naruto had to get him to wake up soon and eat. If not.. then the boy might actually..- No, nono. This wasn't the time. The blonde shook his head. There was no time for him to be thinking so cynical, especially in this type of situation. ..As negative as his personality was.
Naruto had tried waking Sasuke up many times, his methods from starting off as gentle shakes and hey, Naruto maybe even slapped him once. Lightly of course. Then when that didn't work he, may have slapped him harder. Unfortuantely, he grew frustrated because his methods weren't proving to be very effective.
"Dammit," Naruto whispered, worriedly. "Hurry up and wake up.. I didn't save you for nothing.."
The blond sighed.
They continued down the silent, dark road. The only illumination they had was the dim headlights of the worn down ATV.
As the blonde aimlessly pondered and drove about, he felt himself growing exhausted. I mean, who wouldn't after being awake for two boring days straight?
Sure, he has stayed awake way longer than that, for reasons, but this situation that they've been through had just drained all of his energy.
Naruto was having an internal conflict with his brain, one side telling him to stop and rest because he was so damn tired. And the other side telling him to keep going, because he was treading unfamiliar areas and there could literally be lurkers everywhere.
