chapter five.

"You okay?" Taehyung asked, concern growing in his chest as he watched Jisoo sitting silently on the couch. She hadn't said a word to him—not even a glance—and that was unusual. Jisoo never ignored him like this. It made him uneasy.

He finally looked up from his phone and gave her his full attention.

"Why didn't you come home last night?" Jisoo asked calmly, her tone cold as she closed the book she'd been pretending to read. Her eyes didn't meet his.

Taehyung blinked, mind racing to remember what excuse he could give. The truth? They cuddled. They kissed. But nothing more. It wasn't cheating, at least physically—but emotionally?

"I stayed at the office. My dad asked me to handle something urgent," he said quickly, gulping hard. He looked away, avoiding her eyes.

But Jisoo didn't buy it.

"Your dad would never ask you to stay overnight unless it's a crisis with the building," she said, voice low and restrained. Her hands trembled slightly in her lap. "And we both know there's no problem like that."

Taehyung froze.

She knew.

She was awake last night—awake enough to hear him sneak out. And now, she was watching him lie straight to her face.

"Honey, I'm tired. Don't make me more tired," he said harshly, the warmth in his expression vanishing. He could already feel the argument boiling, and he wasn't in the mood to fight.

He grabbed his phone again and focused on the screen, trying to ignore the pain swimming in Jisoo's eyes.

Jisoo nodded slowly and stood up. She walked to their bedroom without another word, her hands tightly curled into fists. She didn't cry—she just dialed someone's number. While she was gone, Taehyung's lips curled into a smile, oblivious to the damage he was causing.

As soon as she was out of sight, his fingers hovered over Lisa's name on his screen. He tapped the call button.

He waited... and waited... but she didn't pick up.

He hung up, frowning. Irritated, he opened Instagram, finding her profile instantly. His jaw tightened when he saw her newest post.

It was a photo of her and Jackson, arms around each other, her caption reading:
"mine and yours."

Taehyung's blood boiled.

He threw his phone to the couch with a harsh grunt, not even caring about how expensive it was. He placed a hand on his temple, massaging it slowly, trying to keep himself from snapping.
