Walking into the reception, the party is in full swing. Temor and I start speaking to our guests. I notice the lights in the ballroom turn purple, and Temor is walking me to the dance floor as the DJ says that
Mr.& Mrs. Dillon will now have their first dance.
Then I heard it, the song that changed my expectations of what real love should be.
" Until the end of time.." I am now in my husband's arms as Prince sings our love song
From the first moment I saw you, I knew you were the one.
Temor says, "Baby, that is the truth. I knew you were the only one for me."
"I am so glad you kissed me last New Years' Eve," I say to him and kiss him with all the passion and love I feel for him.
The song and our dance end with everyone clapping.
Before Midnight we do the bouquet toss, but before that, Temor takes my garter off. I am telling him to behave because our parents are here, and he just says, " We're married; I can do what I want to my wife."
Then he winks and continues to put his hands up my dress. I am just looking him in his eyes, hoping this man doesn't touch me in other places and just takes the garter off. He is classy about it and removes the garter and then kisses me on the lips.
Keeping with tradition, we do the bouquet and garter toss. I am curious to see who the next couple will be to get married. One, Two, Three, I toss the bouquet and turn to see who catches it. Of course, my bestie caught the bouquet.
We both winked at each other, although it was not planned, I hoped Mila would find someone to calm her heart and make her fall in love.
Temor is ready to toss the garter. I watch to see which single men are going to participate. Most of the single guys go on the floor. I notice that both my godbrothers get up, Sincere and Chance. Then Damien walks on the floor. Interesting, I know Damien has regretted the way things ended with Mila and wants to get back with her.
Temor tosses the garter, and I hold my breath to see who catches it.
I see Chance smiling, twirling it in his hands. I look at Mila, and she looks stunned. I look at Damien. He has a smirk on his face. Camila and Chance dance together. I must admit they have always looked good together. Who knows, maybe they're next.
The night moves on, and now It is time to count down to the new year...10...9...8...7...6...5...4...3...2...1.
"Happy New Year, Mrs. Dillon," Temor said.
" Happy New Year to you, Mr. Dillon," I respond.
I look around at our family; everyone seems happy. I see that Damien is kissing Camila, and I am shocked. I scan the room for Chance, but I don't see him or Sincere.
Temor is walking me over to our parent's table.
" Happy New Year," he said. I hear them all say "Happy New Year," and we talk with them for a while. Around 1:30a.m Temor starts saying good night to our guest and comes to get me off the dance floor.
"You know, technically, this is our honeymoon Mrs. Dillon, so I need you to come with me," he said. I say good night to my girls and walk off the floor with my husband.
" Are you happy? Love" "Very," I said.
"I guess I owe Prince for my happiness," I say, smiling.
"How so" Temor ask
"The first time I heard Adore, I was 15. I cried listening to the song because I understood the type of love he was talking about. I knew then that I would only marry a man that loved me like that. I would only accept a man who loved me on that level. Back then, I thought the man was someone else, and when everything happened, I thought I would never find that type of love."
"So you never planned on getting married?" Temor ask.
"No, well, not until the night I met the man whose smile lit up one of my darkest moments and then called me and talked to me until the sun came up," I said
"Love, I am going to always love you and try my best to make sure you don't have any dark times" my husband said, kissing me as we walked into our room, placing the do not disturb tag on the door.
