Love's POV
I turn around and see him...he looks the same. I haven't seen him in almost two years. My vision gets a little blurry. I blink my eyes and focus on what I thought was going to be my future.
I forget where I am for a second as I look up at him. " Hey, Love," he says and kisses my cheek.
"Mehki," I say, looking up at him
"You are looking good as always," he said
"Thank you," I said
"Who is this?" he asked, shaking Tyler's hand.
"My son, Tyler," I say without further explanation. His expression shows shock and sadness but then is replaced with a soft smile.
"What are you out here doing?" he asks
"Celebrating Tylers birthday," I said
"And you?" I ask
" Out here with Pops, you should come over and say hello. I know he would love to see you," he said.
"Okay," I said, and we started walking towards some benches.
As we get closer, Mehki yells to Pops, " Look who I found."
"Love, hey, pretty girl, who do we have here?" He asks
"Hey Pops, this is my son Tyler," I say, hugging Pop with one arm.
Pops looks at Mehki and shakes his head. "Did you get married?" he asked me.
"No, I am engaged to Tyler's father. Our wedding is on this New Years eve," I said
"Well, congratulations baby, Pops is happy for you." Just as he said that Temor walked up and put his arm around my shoulders
" Hey, Baby," he said with a smile.
"Hey, Temor, this is Mr. Davis Mekhi's grandfather, and this is Mehki," I said
" Nice to meet you both," Temor said, reaching out to shake their hands.
"Congratulations, Love tells us you'll be married soon," Pop's said
Glancing at Mehki, I see he is looking at Temor, with no expression on his face. A part of me wonders what he is thinking. The thought is fleeting as I hear Temor speak.
"Thank you, yes we will be married on New Year's Eve."
"Well, you have a great girl there; make sure you take care of her. It was good seeing you." Pops said, tapping Mehki so they could leave.
"Good seeing y'all too," I said as they walked away.
Now Temor and I are walking back towards our pavilion. I am wondering if this is going to be a problem.
"Mi Amor, are we good?" Temor ask. I turn to look at him and respond,
"Yes, why wouldn't we be?"
"You seem sad. Do you miss being with Mehki?" He asked
"No, I don't miss him, I was just surprised to see him. I haven't communicated with him since the day I read his last letter." I said.
"Not even when we were not talking?" he asks.
"No, not even when we were not talking. One thing I don't do is go back to men who break up with me or hurt me. Temor, you are the exception, the one time I am taking a chance. I hope I don't end up regretting it." I said.
Temor stops walking and hugs Tyler and me " I promise on everything you will not regret giving us a chance. I love you, Mi Amor,"
I believe him with all my heart. I have no regrets and no one else in my heart or on my mind.
"I love you too," I said.
