During Christmas there are two types of people, the ones who celebrate and the ones who mourn. I'm one of the ones who mourns.
There is a long list of why I do, but here is the worst one.
I'm alone.
It's Christmas Eve and I'm sitting in kitchen drinking a cup of coffee.
I honestly gave up celebrating; I no longer see a need to. Why celebrate when all you want to do is cry?
My parents up-and-left long ago, and the rest of my family? They don't care at all. This is how all of my Christmases have became solo holidays.
I am reminiscing on my old semi-happy Christmas memories when my clock strikes 12 quickly bringing me back to the present time.
I got up from my chair to look at the clock-my mother's clock-when I heard a knock at my front door.
I quickly walked over to the door to open it. After I had gently pulled it open I saw my old friends standing in the door holding many elaborately decorated presents.
My best friend from the group, Kendall, came up and gave me a tight hug. "We missed you," she said with a sad smile. "I-I-I missed you too," I stuttered obviously surprised to see them in my apartment. "Can we come in?" Chloe asked me, giving me a wave. "Yeah," I almost whispered standing back from my door allowing them in my apartment.
My "Mackenzie?" I muttered hoarsely. I saw her head turn toward me and immediately felt tears dripping down my face. I rushed toward her giving her the biggest hug I could muster. I felt my shoulder dampen with my dear sister's tears.
When Mom and Dad left the workers from Children Services quickly came and claimed her as theirs. We were separated and it was devastating; but worst of all, all of my friends and I grew apart-right when I needed them most. "Mackenzie," I murmured into my sisters ear. "I missed you."
"I missed you too. Chloe tracked all of us down and made us come see you."
I looked at Chloe with tears in my eyes, "Why?"
Chloe and I where never friends but we were not enemies. "No-one deserves to be alone on Christmas, no matter who they are."
I started to let my tears flow again as my friends huddled around me to give me a group hug.
