I Gave You|Poem

I gave you my ears,
And into them you poured.
My eyes would widen,
With each untruthful word.

I gave you my hand,
And you pulled me down.
You dragged me on
That cold, hardened ground.

I gave you my time;
Day after day,
But you just let it
Waste all away.

I gave you my heart,
But you let it shatter;
And then you watched
The pieces all scatter.

I gave you my life-
This you could not handle.
So you blew us out,
Just like a candle.

I gave you too much.
Too much, too fast;
And yet I always
Knew it never would last.
