"Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain."

"Sir could you tell me what we are going to find once we get back to the Williams' manor?"

"Thomas you see the man behind us?"

Thomas looked back and there was a man walking along with them. He was a tall man with a cloth around his head that covered most of his face, he was dressed like those who lived in the rookeries of Durham.

"Yes sir, looks like he is here to kill us"

"We are being followed since we left the Hastings' house, we need to do something about him, Thomas follow me"

Arthur entered an alleyway, the place had the day dimly lit. It had open sewers which gave away a rotting smell, while the waters from it came flowing out, and made the mud damp. It consisted of the backdoors of many shops and houses. Arthur stopped and turned towards the man who was following them, the man pulled out a knife and stood still. The man came running towards him with the knife pointing at Arthur, he tried dodging it and even though he evaded it, he was slightly scraped near his abdomen region. Arthur pushed the man aside as the man ran towards him the second time, the knife from his hand had fallen off due the impact when Arthur had shoved him aside, the man punched him in the face and Arthur toppled down and was left dazed, as he was on the ground, he reached his hand out and picked up a small amount of sludge and shot it right into the man's eyes. The man struggled to see through his muddy eyelids and burning pupils, Arthur noticed the knife that had fallen on the ground, picked it up and while pointing at him, he asked, "Who sent you?"

While trying to remove the dirt that was in his eyes he said, "I don't know who he is, I have only received letters from him. Look I am sorry, I did all this because I was told that they would spare my family if I killed you"

"Who are they?"

"Three men broke into my house last night, took me wife and me two kids, and gave a handwritten letter, it didn't mention who it was from. The letter told me to find a man named Arthur Fredric, and kill him. The letter even had a painting of you. Mr Fredric look, if I don't kill you they'll send my wife and children to the grave, so please let me just kill you"

"I'm sorry but I can't let you kill me. Thomas, take him back to the Yard, I'll go to the Williams"

Thomas cuffed the man's hands together, behind his back and was putting him in the carriage, and bang, a loud noise was heard, it was the sound of a bullet being fired. The man had been shot dead.

"Sir Fredric, the man is dead, he was shot right through his brain"

"Take cover Thomas, the shot was on point, the person who killed this man has a clear shot on us"

Arthur looked around, only to find nothing, there was no sign of anybody, anywhere. He yelled out in anger and frustration, "Whoever wants to kill me, is toying with us. He is trying to show us that he can have us killed anytime he wants, he murdered this man to tell us that if we go any further with the case, he will have us killed as well."

Thomas while looking at the lifeless body of the man in front of him said, "Sir, what do we do now, should we drop the case?"

"Thomas, have you ever opened a bottle of champagne before?"

"Yes Sir, I have"

"You see, once the bottle is opened, the cork can't be put back. You need to finish what you have started, and that is exactly what I'm going to do. Let's continue our way to the Williams' manor"

The mansion of the aristocrat Ethan Williams was a huge one, the place sat among empty land on all sides, it kindled with a gloom as the moonlight flickered over it. The deceased bodies kept in the living room had started to disintegrate, giving out a foul smell.
