"Revenge, the sweetest morsel to the mouth that ever cooked in hell"
As far as history can go, humans have always been, the gluttons of this world, wanting more and more each time. The sweet yet bitter flavour of desire, bring men to their knees, chasing the only thing that consumes them. We never learn now do we. The sin that destroys everything in its path, is yet on another journey to witness the carnage that it bestows upon this godforsaken world.
"Ellen! Ellen, where are you?",
Ellen replied in utter disappointment, "I'm right here Jack, what is it? What is that in your hand?",
"Oh this? This is something that I found on my way home from the fishery, and I thought of bringing it back with me, isn't it a funny looking box?"
With a sigh, Ellen replied, "Jack, we don't have time for all the nonsense you keep brining back with you, I have got a house to look after and you have got a job, right?"
"Yes ma'am. I, Jack, will never bring anything back with me from now on and will work hard to buy us a proper house"
"Yes you better, the walls of this house are peeling off, and the roof has holes in it, and along with me, this house has nobody else, other than a stinky you, Jack"
"Now I'm a stinky and a useless husband eh? aren't you being a little too harsh with me?"
"Aren't you forgetting something, Mr Jack? Today was our anniversary."
Jack stepped a few steps back and paused for a second to think of the outcome, if he said that he had forgotten about it and replied,
"Ah, so that's what the grumpiness was all about. My lovely Ellen, I had a good catch today, so why don't we get ourselves some gin and let the evening take over?"
"But, you never answered my question, did you forget that today was our anniversary?"
Looking away from Ellen, he said, "Hahaha, how could I ever forget about that?"
"Really?"
"Uh......... yes .........please don't doubt your husband"
"okay, I'll believe you, just this once."
Jack underneath his breath, whispered to himself, "Phew, that was a close call, if I had told her that I had forgotten about our anniversary, I would have witnessed the devil manifest, right in front of me"
"Jack, I want you to go get some groceries from that store down the lane"
"Roger."
"Oh, and what do I do with this box, that you brought home?"
"Keep it away for now, we can open it tomorrow."
The following day, not expecting much from it, Jack opened the box that he brought home the other day. And poof, all the gold comes rushing out, the box was filled with precious stones and metals. He emptied the box and at the bottom was a writing, that read "To thee, who unlocked the chest, thou shalt have a life of regrets at best", Jack paid no heed to the writings he read. Ecstatic, he ran to his wife, showed her what he had found in the box, his wife roared, "Jack!, with these, we wouldn't have to worry about money anymore", Jack was over the moon, he looked at Ellen and said, "Honey, we're going to have a feast tonight, let's call all our neighbors and celebrate".
Word spread around the town about the mysterious, yet unique looking box that Jack had found and the amount of wealth that was locked inside of it. Few days had passed, Jack had sold his boat and was living a happy life.
