I stood in front of the airlocks, I was waiting for my father, I needed to say goodbye, I heard the sound of the door opening and saw my dad. He looked mentally and physically exhausted with dark circles under his blue eyes, but his eyes lit up the moment he saw me and before I knew it, he had engulfed me into a hug, it brought tears to my eyes; I hadn't seen or hugged my father in so long
"I'm sorry" he said as we broke the hug, I sniffled a little bit
"Don't be sorry, Dad. You didn't do anything wrong" I said as I wiped at the tears
"I could've gotten you out" he said, I knew he did all he could, but I couldn't let him blame himself
"I had to do the time for my crimes. But now, I have a second chance and I promise that I'll be back as soon as I can" I assured, he engulfed me in another hug
"Just be safe. I need to know that you're gonna be safe" Dad said, his voice cracked ever so slightly
"I will, I promise" I assured as the door opened again and a guard walked in
"Time's up" he said, I looked back to my father
"I'll see you soon" I lied, it was wrong but I needed to make sure that he wasn't going to worry about me, I needed to make sure that he wasn't going to follow me
"I hope so" he said before he was ushered out of the room, I let the tears fall freely from my hazel eyes as I watched him go. My heart was breaking in pieces, it broke me to watch him go knowing that there was a massive possibility that she would never see him again but I pushed all of it down, wiping my tears until there was no sign of them anymore, then I picked up the bag that was on the ground and walked toward one of the many airlock chambers in the room, I only looked back after it closed then watching as another door closed over it
