The Ancient Enemy

Percy's POV

After the Chimera attack or trap, I was starving.

"Remind me never to get on your bad side Grace," I joked.

"Yeah, next time you do I'll explode you like the Chimera!" He said back.

We all laughed as we entered a Mc Donald's. We ordered our food (mine of course especially blue) and we took our seats. Mount Tam is now on view and just a couple of hours till we will be there.

We ate our food peacefully until as usual, a monster needs to come and ruin it all.

I was munching my cheeseburger eagerly until a female dog leaped and wrestled me down to the ground.

She bit at my face as I threw her away using my feet. She landed with a thud but got up and charged back at me. Instinctively, I uncapped Riptide and slashed at its neck but it slid down between my legs and jumped me from behind.

I threw her off again and charged at her. I slashed her, stabbed her, kicked her, but somehow she managed to dodge all my attacks.

My friends jumped into action to help me out. Jason sent winds to blow her back when she leaped and Nico summoned skeleton hands from the floor to hold all her paws.

She was caught in the trap and I came up to her and slashed her at the neck. I didn't know what dog it was but it didn't turn to dust yet became yellow dots and floated into the sky.

I didn't know either what the mortals saw but based on what I heard through the whisperings, they saw a 3 boys fighting off a stray cat using knives.

Before the witnesses can call the police we took off and ran out. It was getting dark and we have no place to sleep.

We wandered around for about two hours until we found a pretty good clearing in about the middle of nowhere.

We didn't bring any sleeping bags so we slept right there in the grass. At about dawn I woke up as well as the others.

We kept on walking till we saw a lake and decided to take a little bathe with all our clothes. "Race you there Jackson!" Cried Jason as we all raced to the pond and jumped to the freezing cold water.

After a few minutes we dried ourselves and continued walking.

"Guys! There's a bus stop over there with a bus that goes to Mount Tam!" Nico said

"Yeah but after the taxi, d'you really think we want to ride another car?" I said.

"Well its better than walking," Jason shrugged.

We bought tickets and boarded the bus. A man came wobbling in after us. He had big broad shoulders and muscles, a scorched face, scratched skin, a crippled foot, and oily clothes. He reeked of oil, gears, and grease.

We decided to sit in the back which would fit three of us. The crippled man sat right in front of us. He grunted and said, "You three listen carefully. What you're up against is much more powerful than you think. He is more dangerous than the Titans themselves! Be careful, watch your back, and never give in. Take these gifts from yours truly to help on your journey."

He handed each of us a bronze dagger similar to Katoptris. "If you throw it to the ground, it would transform into an automaton and charge your enemies but you can also use it as a dagger."

"Thank you lord Vulcan," Jason addressed.

"Actually kid, its Hephaestus" he replied and winked then fire came up and engulfed him and he disappeared.

The other witnesses didn't seem to notice a thing, and just as Hephaestus dissapeared, a tiny woman came in. She looked like a dwarf and wasnt carrying anything.
