“What did you want to talk about?” Layla asked Ashton as she gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. Ashton grabbed her forearm and made her sit down beside him.
“Alam mo ba that Julie doesn’t trust you? She’s suspicious about your intentions with Elmo!” His voice was loud. Luckily, no one was around to hear them.
“Well, she shouldn’t trust me. Bakit ba ang init ng ulo mo!?” She pulled her arm away from him.
“Because you’re not being careful! If you want to get close to Elmo, you should get close to Julie as well! Be her best friend! Layla, hindi mo makukuha si Elmo if Julie doesn’t trust you being around him!”
“Be her best friend? I can’t stand being around her! I can’t even look at her.” She admitted.
“Haven’t you ever heard, Lay? Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.”
“Eh, hindi ka nga lumalapit kay Elmo.”
“That’s because he already hates me. In your case, Julie is actually giving you a chance.” His voice was calm now. “Lay, nandito na yung chance natin. Especially yours. Bininigyan ka na ni Julie ng chance na maging kaibigan niya. Once she trusts you, madali nalang mapasayo si Elmo.” He held her hand and squeezed it tight.
“Lay… Please, try to be friends with Julie.” He begged.
Layla rolled her eyeballs and stayed silent for a moment. She took a deep breath in and looked Ashton. “Okay. Okay. I’ll try to get along with Julie… For Elmo.” She voiced out.
Julie was busy getting her things ready for the busy day ahead. She had rehearsals, tapings, and guestings that entire day so she didn’t have time to go home and get her things.
Knock. Knock.
“Julie, someone’s here to see you.” Her mom’s voice echoed behind her door.
“Okay, ma.” She answered. “Si Elmo siguro yun. Ang early niya naman…” She thought to herself.
She ran down the stairs excitedly to see her boyfriend. “Babe, ang early mo- Layla?” She was surprised to see Layla in her living room. Elmo wasn’t there.
“Hi, Julie. Good morning!” Layla greeted.
“Umm… Good morning. Anong ginagawa mo dito?” She asked confusingly.
“I thought we could hang out today.”
“I’m sorry, Layla. Busy ako today eh. My schedule’s kinda full.” She stammered.
“Well, samahan na kita. I’ll be your PA and driver.” Layla forcefully smiled.
“Elmo’s supposed to pick me up.”
“Good morning- Layla? Anong ginagawa mo dito?” Elmo entered the door to see Layla and Julie talking. “Hi, Moe. Is it okay if I drive Julie to work today?” Layla asked straight out. Elmo’s eyes widened but a smile appeared on his face. “It’s okay with me… But it’s really up to her. I warn you, Lay. Her schedule’s pretty hectic.” He giggled. Layla smiled when she heard his laugh.
“Okay lang… So what do you say, Julie?” Layla turned to Julie.
“I guess, it’s okay.” Julie answered.
“Great! I’ll be in my car.” Layla smiled and exited the house.
“That was weird.” Julie said as she walked towards Elmo. Elmo shook his head in amusement and held Julie’s hand. “I think she’s just trying to make friends with you.” Elmo wrapped his arm around her shoulders and he kissed her forehead.
“Once you get to know Layla, I think you’d like her.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes… Now, go or you’ll be late. I love you.”
“I love you…” Julie smiled and Elmo pecked her lips.
They held hands and they walked out of Julie’s house together. Elmo gave her a brief hug and he got into his car. Julie smiled at Layla who was waiting for her in he driver seat of her car. She placed her things in the back and sat in the passenger seat.
“Okay, so where to?” Layla asked.
