Julie knocked on Elmo’s door, but there was no reply. She knew that maybe Elmo fell asleep. She took out her key to his condo and opened the door. She walked around quietly, not wanting to wake him. She peeked through his bedroom door and to her surprise, Layla and Elmo were sleeping beside each other. She didn’t know how she should feel.
“She probably fell asleep attending to Elmo’s needs. And she’s in a relationship with Ashton, she wouldn’t cheat on him.” She thought.
Instead of waking them up, she decided to leave them be. She trusted Elmo and Layla was now her friend. She couldn’t think badly of them. A few hours later, Elmo woke up and he saw a sleeping Layla beside him. He smiled because he knew that she took care of him. He got up and walked towards the kitchen to find some food because he was starving. But when he passed by his living room, he saw his girlfriend sleeping on the couch. He walked towards her and kneeled on the floor beside her.
“Babe? Kanina ka pa?” He asked her as he touched her arm.
“Mmm… Babe, naman… Natutulog yung tao eh.” She answered him in an annoyed tone.
“Sorry... “ He giggled. “Lumipat ka nalang sa kama, tabi kayo ni Layla.” He continued.
“’Wag na… Baka magising siya.”
“Nonsense.” He picked her up and carried her to his room. He carefully placed her on his bed and tucked her in. He decided to cook for them, so he went to the kitchen.
Layla smiled at the thought that she was sleeping beside Elmo. She kept her eyes closed so that he’ll think she unconsciously wrapped her arm around him while they were in slumber. She wrapped her arm around his waist. She moved closer and hugged him tight. She suddenly realized how thin Elmo was…
“Ba’t ba ang payat ni Moe? At parang walang muscles ah? Anong nangyari?” She thought.
She opened her eyes and saw that it was actually Julie who she was hugging. She immediately pulled her arm away from Julie and luckily, Julie wasn’t woken.
“Buti nalang di pala ako nagsalita…” She thought.
“Oh, gising ka na pala, Layla.” Elmo said as he walked through the door with a tray full of food. He laid it on his bedside table and sat beside Julie. He caressed her cheek and he looked at Layla and smiled.
“Gusto mo na bang kumain, Lay?” He asked her. Layla nodded and he picked up a plate with pasta from the tray and handed it to Layla. He gave her a fork and he smiled. “If gusto mo pa, meron pa sa kitchen. Masarap yan!” He assured her. Elmo then turned his attention to Julie.
“Babe, gising na… Kain na tayo.”
“Mmm… Mamaya na, babe…”
“The food’s gonna get cold. Sige na… Gising na.”
Julie rubbed her eyes and she sat up. She was surprised to see that she was on the bed and she was beside Layla.
“Paano ako naka-“
“I carried you. Ang weird niyo talaga… Akala ko ako yung may sakit, pero mukhang kayo ang napagod.” Elmo giggled. He handed Julie another plate with food on it. Layla witnessed how sweet they were towards each other. She lost her appetite almost immediately.
“It’s getting kinda late. I should go ahead.” Layla said as she hurriedly stood up and gathered her things.
“Huh? I thought Ashton was going to pick you up?” Elmo asked.
“Oh… I’ll text him nalang. Late na kasi.”
“Ihatid nalang kita.”
“Wag na…”
“Okay, ganito… Either ihatid ka namin ni Julie or hintayin mo dito si Ashton.”
She had no choice. Either way, she still had to spend time with them. “Fine, I’ll just wait for Ash.” An hour later, Ashton arrived. Just as he stepped through the door, Layla jumped into his arms.
“I missed you, honey!” She said in a loud voice, loud enough so that Elmo and Julie could hear her.
“I missed you too…” He answered in the same loudness.
Elmo and Julie greeted Ashton. “Well, I think I have to take Layla home. It is getting kinda late.” Ashton said.
“I’ll just get my things, hon.”
“Ashton, can we talk?” Elmo asked. Julie looked at Elmo and nodded and she left. Elmo walked towards Ashton.
“I know we don’t really see eye to eye. I probably misjudged you… For a second, I thought you liked my girlfriend. But now I see who you really want, and who you really love. If it’s okay with you, I’d like for us to start over. Layla is one of my best friends, and you’re her boyfriend. So I think we owe it to her to get along.”
