Stay With Me

"... Hinata-kun?" Nagito walked up to Hajime, a warm cup of coffee in his hand. He had woken up from a nightmare earlier that evening. Unable to go back to sleep, his disastrous dreams plaguing his mind on an endless loop, he instead had headed downstairs to get a drink. Coffee certainly wasn't the best drink for people to have when they're trying to sleep, but in that moment Nagito found he simply didn't care.

However, as he finished making his coffee, and had headed back to their room to drink his coffee and try to sleep, he realised Hajime had not yet arrived. He paused, drink starting to get cold against the night air, and started going through each room one by one, trying to find where Hajime was hiding. Not the living room... not the guest bedroom... but as he entered the study, the sight of a familiar brown ahoge was enough to make him sigh in relief, and head over.

Now - having heard Nagito's greeting - Hajime jumped slightly, whirling his head around, to lock eyes with his boyfriend. "I- Nagito...?" He breathed in and out gently trying to calm down from the scare, pressing the palm of his right hand against his chest. "Don't do that again... and I told you to call me Hajime..."

"Ah, sorry, Hina- Hajime..." Nagito muttered quietly, backing away from Hajime, almost stumbling over himself as he tried to make Hajime feel more comfortable. "I can leave if you-"

Suddenly a hand shot forward and tightly grabbed hold of Nagito's coat sleeve. "Don't go." Nagito glanced at Hajime, concerned, and Hajime slowly pulled Nagito closer, before wrapping his arms around him. Nagito could feel Hajime shaking - from cold or something else he couldn't tell - and his heart burned with a strong desire to hold Hajime close and never let him go. "Please." Nagito felt his heart break at Hajime's plea, and yet all he could do to comfort him was simply hold him tighter.

"I'm here. I'm not going anywhere." Nagito said softly, raising one of his hands to gently ruffle Hajime's hair - carefully avoiding the ahoge - in what he hoped was a comforting gesture. "I'm right here..." It seemed to do the trick, as Hajime buried himself further into Nagito's chest, sighing slightly, and calming down a little, the shaking beginning to cease. As Hajime calmed down, Nagito took a glance at Hajime's study desk, which was overflowing with papers and other random things. His laptop was on, and full of document tabs. "... Have you been overworking yourself?"

The almost unnoticeable flinch and glance away from Nagito's chest was enough to tell him the answer. Nagito sighed, and pulled Hajime off of his studying seat, picking him up in his arms briefly as he sat in the seat Hajime was just sitting in, placing Hajime back down - this time with Nagito's lap separating Hajime and the seat he was just sitting in. "N- Nagito?!" Hajime flusteredly protested.

"Are you not- I'm sorry Hajime, if you don't like this I can-"

"It's fine." Hajime quickly interrupted him, cheeks faintly red. "I was just... surprised." He remained in Nagito's lap - but only because it'd be a pain to get Nagito off of his seat - no other reason at all. He found himself relaxing... Nagito's lap really was comfortable... but he shook his head firmly, turning back to his work. He had too much to do, he couldn't afford to sleep yet and risk falling behind even further.

"..." Nagito silently offered Hajime his undrunk cup of coffee, and Hajime took it eagerly, drinking it almost immediately after it was put in his hands. It had gotten colder, but was still faintly warm, and Hajime's eyes widened slightly as he started to feel more awake. He smiled and kissed Nagito on the cheek as a thank you, making Nagito blush slightly.

Hajime sighed, turning back to his desk. "Now, time to get back to-" the word 'work' died on his lips, as Nagito pushed against the floor with his feet, making their chair zoom slightly away from the table. Hajime tried to get up, and Nagito held him against his chest. "Nagito..." Hajime sighed, glancing at Nagito in slight irritation.

"Hajime you can't possibly be thinking of getting back to work. You're exhausted." Nagito tried to persuade him, gesturing to the bags under Hajime's eyes, and his slanted posture among other signs of stress and over-exhaustion.

The ahoge-haired man simply shook his head in protest. "I'm fine. I need to get this work done, and I just had a coffee. No need to worry, Nagito." He leant in to give Nagito a light kiss, but this time Nagito backed away.

"No, I'll kiss you when you tell me honestly that you're going to bed. Okay?"

"But Nagito - I have so much work to do-!"

"I don't care, Hajime, you've been working so hard-"

"And I need to keep working hard!" Hajime began to shout, his voice echoing off the walls, and making Nagito cover his ears in fright. "I've worked hard my entire life, and yet I don't have an Ultimate like you all. I had to work so hard to get into Hope's Peak to begin with, and the second my grades drop, I'm out! With your Ultimates, all of you can just breeze on by, you don't have to work hard for anything! None of you have any idea what it's like to be me! What it's like to be TRULY useless!"

"H- Hajime, you're not...!" Nagito hugged Hajime tight.

"Ah- Nagito?" Hajime glanced at him, confused. Nagito kissed him gently on the cheek.

"Hajime, do you think making me love myself is something meaningless?"

"N- no, of course not-"

"Then since you're the person who made me love myself - that would make you NOT useless, right...?" Nagito smirked slightly, as he kissed Hajime's forehead, as Hajime froze, realising Nagito had caught him in his trap. He flusteredly tried to talk for a minute, before giving up, and just relaxing against Nagito's hold.

"So... bed?" Nagito said, glancing at Hajime. Hajime sighed, but nodded. He went to stand up, but Nagito stood up first, reaching his arms under Hajime and lifting Hajime into the air, pressing him against his chest in his arms - bridal style. Hajime blushed, confused, and Nagito simply smiled at him in return, gently kissing his forehead once again. "If you're the princess returning to her eternal slumber, then I'll be the knight who escorts you there." He said, with a light smile.

"Is the knight always such a doofus...?" Hajime joked, smiling slightly, as Nagito carried him back up the stairs.

"Maybe, but he's the princess' doofus." Another kiss on the forehead, as Nagito laid Hajime down in their bed. Hajime sighed and laughed as he got adjusted on the bed covers, as Nagito crept in next to him.

"... I don't think the princess would mind that." Hajime said with a slight smile, as he closed his eyes and hugged Nagito tight, allowing sleep to succumb them both.

"Please... stay with me... forever."
