"Komaeda, I need to head down to HQ today. They radioed in and said they needed Izuru..." Hajime murmured softly to Nagito that Thursday morning, as he climbed back into the bed to wake his husband up. He shook Nagito a couple times, repeating his earlier words, until Nagito murmured incoherent words as a response, rolling towards Hajime and wrapping his arms around the ahoge-haired man. After numerous attempts, Hajime was finally able to decipher what Nagito was saying.

"How long will you be gone for...? Can I contact you...?"

Hajime sighed, knowing Nagito wasn't going to like his answer. "I'm going to be gone for several days... hopefully I'll return on the Sunday evening, but... I could be gone for... a while..." At Nagito's crestfallen face, he had to close his eyes and turn his head away as he continued speaking, knowing the news wasn't getting any better. "And... I won't be able to contact you very often - maybe not at all - until I get back..."

"W- what?!" Nagito's voice broke, and Hajime relinquished slightly, allowing Nagito to pull him closer, snuggling up to him as Nagito held him desperately. Hajime could feel Nagito's hands shaking.

"Hey... it'll be okay..." Hajime placed one of his hands on top of Nagito's trembling ones. "It won't be forever. I'll come back. I'll call when I can..."

Nagito didn't stop his tight hold of Hajime, and eventually Hajime sighed. "... I'll leave my tie here."

"..." Nagito slowly let go of Hajime. "... You better."

"Hajime's been gone for three days now..." It was Sunday evening, and Nagito was sitting on the couch alone. Three days, and he'd only gotten one five minute phone call... He sighed, mindlessly flicking through the TV channels, eventually settling on a random movie.

He had Hajime's tie wrapped around his hand like a makeshift glove and was absentmindedly fiddling with it for comfort as the movie played. Hajime didn't have many personal belongings, but at the very least, he had a favourite tie. The very same tie Nagito was now fiddling with. But it wasn't enough.

"... come back soon..."

"Nagito! I'm back!"

As he unlocked and stepped through the doorway, he was strangely greeted by nothing at all. Hajime wasn't normally gone for so long, but either way, Hajime found Nagito's lack of response strange...

... until he entered the living room, and found Nagito passed out on the couch, the TV still on, and Hajime's tie tied tightly around Nagito's hand. Hajime chuckled softly as he carefully removed the tie, before waking Nagito up with a couple of shakes.

"Nagito...? It's me... I'm back..."

The white-haired boy slowly opened his eyes, blinking a little, widening them slightly as he realised Hajime was right there in front of him. He froze for a few moments, before tears formed in the corners of his eyes, and he slowly - almost hesitantly - crept forwards, enveloping Hajime in a tight embrace, his body shaking. Hajime sighed fondly, and hugged back, patting Nagito's back.

"It's alright... I'm back now..." He carefully inspected Nagito. "Did you do anything... stupid, while I was gone?"

"No..."

Hajime sighed in relief at Nagito's response to his question.

"... I just missed you a lot..."

"......" Hajime wrapped his arms tighter around Nagito.

Nagito's voice was shaking. "Don't go for so long again... please..."

"... I can't promise that..." Hajime gently threaded his hands through Nagito's hair, brushing through it as he felt Nagito relax into him because of the comforting motion. "... but I can promise that I'll always come back to you..."

"... you promise...?"

"... Always."

With that, he gave Nagito a small kiss on the forehead and pulled away. "Would you like to cuddle now?"

Nagito nodded and Hajime lifted him into his arms, before carrying him to the bed and then cuddling with him. Nagito sighed and hugged back, closing his eyes, feeling Hajime's love surrounding him. He always loved this feeling - this feeling of care, of quiet... of safety.
