Harvey strolls into the kitchen of his best friend's apartment like the world is chained to his ankle.
"Rough day?" Luke asks with a raised eyebrow.
He's facing away from Harvey. Wiry body hunched over the small stove, which is currently housing three simmering cooking pots.
"You have no idea." Harvey responds, then steps closer, peering over the blond's shoulder, "I didn't know you cooked."
"I don't." Luke frowns, taking a clean spoon, dipping it into the white sauce in the pot and handing it to Harvey to taste, "But Chris is having a hard time with his dissertation and I thought I'd play househusband for a change."
"What do you mean? He's never had trouble with college before." The shorter man questions, then slips the spoon into his mouth with an appreciative hum before dropping it into the sink behind him.
"Yes, well the idiot decided to pick the hardest project possible." Luke rolls his eyes, turning off the fire under the white sauce.
"And why would he do that?"
"Because he thinks he has to do way more than everyone else in order to be impressive."
Harvey huffs out a sigh and rolls his chocolate-coloured eyes, "Some things never change."
"Tell me about it." Luke agrees, then he sets the spoon he's holding down to look at his friend, "Are you upset because of that interview?"
Harvey frowns, still not used to the ease at which Luke can decipher his friends' feelings, "Kinda." He admits.
"Kinda?" Luke parrots, then smirks, "You don't want to curse that woman out for looking at your man?"
"Shut up." The brunet rolls his eyes, "I don't care that she has a crush on him. Jeff is famous, and hot, there's gonna be a lot more where that came from."
"Then what's bothering you?" Luke presses, concerned.
"The way Jeff's acted since." Harvey tells him with furrowed brows.
"But... You guys have been acting all loved up on social media?" The blond has a baffled expression on his face, "Is that not real?"
"I mean... It is, I guess. There's nothing wrong with us. After the interview, Jeff called to assure me there was nothing going on between him and Dani, and I believe him." Harvey reaffirms, crossing his arms, "But the stuff on social media... All he does now is post about me. Photos and tweets. Like he's a Harvey King update blog."
"Aw!" Luke laughs, "He's probably just sharing his love."
"Or he's overcompensating." Harvey grumbles, pessimistically.
"But why would he do that via social media?" The taller man's head tilts, "You already sorted things out with him, who's he trying to convince?"
"Isn't it obvious?" Harvey grunts, "He's reassuring fans. Which I wouldn't be bothered by if it didn't feel like he's using me as a prop."
"Well, I guess a cheating scandal isn't good for his image. I don't blame him for being thorough." Luke laughs slightly. He moves toward the fridge and opens it, grabbing two beers from the drawer at the bottom and holding one out to his friend.
Harvey sighs, "No, neither do I." He takes the bottle, "I just can't help feeling there's more to it."
"Well, you won't know until you ask him."
"Don't worry, I plan to."
