So story time.... you guys remember the trend called 'the ex-boyfriend toast.'

I tried it with the recipe I saw online at the time and it got me remembering about my ex's version of it.

I went ahead and asked him through text and he surprisingly replied.

Reading the simple recipe made me recall memories of Jungkook slaving away every morning in front of our tiny stoved apartment just to make me these toasts.

After our breakup, we never really got a chance to run into each other as our jobs and lives took us so far apart from each other that our friends find it serendipitous that we're together.

Anygays, I tried to find the ingredients for the recipe here in NY but I can't seem to find a specific ingredient.

I had tried to make a DIY version of it that I found online but it just didn't taste the same and I completely forgot about it until I got reassigned back home in Seoul for a satellite gallery opening.

As I will be assigned here for a year, I got a tiny apartment that just perfectly caters for my needs. And while arranging some trinkets in the kitchen it got me remembering about the said toast.

I took courage and asked my ex again, specifically about this one ingredient - strawberry jam.

That jam was no other and at the time I thought it was store-bought but it wasn't, so I replied that if it weren't then can he kindly share his recipe l and he said yes.

I hurried and got everything, when I told him that I just got back and the ingredients ready, my ex called me via facetime and instructed me on how to make it.

My tiny cosy kitchen was a mess as I only have one tiny pan and one small pot. We were both laughing and as you know memories started to worm their way in and we got to talking without being marred by any negative emotion.

We caught up with our lives after our break up and surprisingly enough Jungkook just wrapped up his MV filming schedule and was home chilling and resting, he even asked where I'm currently staying.

By this time, I seriously missed his lulling voice, his infectious laugh and being with him. It seemed that I'm being serenaded and it sucked.

I school my features as I realized that I feel like I'm falling in love again.

But emotions aside I somewhat finished the jam, a little burnt but yea, I finished it.

I clap my hands as I take in what I made, I thanked Jungkook for his patience and his recipe and started on making the toast.

I was about to say my goodbyes when the doorbell chimed.

I rushed with my goodbyes, went to the door and shouted, "who is it?"

I only got answered by another chime, I tried to peek via the peephole but I only got to see a man with a black bucket hat and humongous clothes.

I tried to recall if work sent a messenger over but I can't remember any and since my place's security is good I didn't fear for my life.

I opened the door and was shocked to see my ex.

"Hi," Jungkook shyly greeted me.

"Umm... Yea. Hello, Jungkookie. Why are you here?"

"Well, I wanted to taste what you made. You never cook so I was wondering..."

"Oh. Umm.."

"If this is too much should I just go?"

Jungkook's sudden arrival made my brain go haywire but when he mentioned 'going' my hand took his wrist and we both paused.

"No. Uh, you can come in. I was just shocked to see you."

I let him go and opened the door wider, inviting him in. I started to walk back to the kitchen but I was back hugged tightly.

"I missed you."

Hearing those three words made me weak, I closed my eyes and rested my head back on his shoulders and simply nodded.

We both stood in the living room as Jungkook hugged me until he had his fill.

His arms started to unwind and I turned my body to him, "I missed you too, Jungkookie," placing both my hands on the sides of his face, "but... won't you get into trouble if your manager knew you were here?"

There, I said it.

The main crux why we had to break up.

His notorious manager.

"No. I won't, thank you for worrying. I have a lot to tell you so... Let's get to that once the toasts are done. I'm starving," Jungkook says as he rubs his tummy.

I nod and told him to sit by the tiny dining table, I set the plates and made my way into the kitchen.

Jungkook was quiet but I can feel his eyes on me, I barely made it through cooking without shivering.

"So, spill," I pointed a fork at Jungkook.

That afternoon, I learned how Jungkook got his music label and that he sued his previous label together with his manager, all that drama went down without me noticing.

Well, I was broken-hearted and on top of that I would always stop myself when I had an urge to search my ex through the internet.

All I could say was, "I see."

"I understand your shock. I tried to find you after but I hesitated. I don't want to involve you in my predicament."

I focused my eyes on him and was shocked to see red, rimmed eyes. I extend my hand to try to wipe away a tear, "Oh, Kookie. You know you'll never be a bother to me. I'm also at fault for not trying to see how you were doing. But.. I was hurt when you chose your label over me so I distanced myse-"

Warm lips.

Jungkook's soft, warm lips crashed onto mine, his hand glided onto my nape, I closed my eyes, as my lips responded with the same vigour.

"Never again. I will never let that happen again," Jungkook stated and kissed me again.

Well, long story - short, after a year here we are - meet my husband.

Jeon Jungkook, CEO of JJK Label, Idol, Filmmaker, Music Producer, and many more film and music titles - it's a lot.

Looking back, it was a long journey for both of us but I think it a necessary one, and I'd like to thank the one who made the ex-boyfriend toast trend for making me reach out to my ex.

Without it, we wouldn't be here, happily married and making strawberry toasts every slow Sunday mornings.

Well, that's it for me.

Bye~ 🐰🐯🤟💜
