Dan plumped up the pillow he was sprawled against for the fifth time that minute. He could feel Phil watching him, yet he couldn't stop. It was as if he had been possessed by some insanely tidy demon  but in actuality he was just desperate for anything to distract him from his thoughts and his memories. Specifically of Liz. Phil sat with his arm around a girl he had mysteriously brought home last night and who still hadn't left. She was small and of medium build with eyes that sparkled when she smiled and a nose that reminded Dan of Liz's; turned up slightly giving the appearance of a child. Dan thumped the cushion even harder as if by doing so he could get Liz out of his head. He thought things would get easier with time but as the days passed he only seemed to become more miserable.

"Dan, did you hear me?" Dan snapped his head up. "What?"

"I said," Phil said, a hint of irritability in the tone of his voice. "Have you remembered that Chris and Pj are coming round today."

"Oh...yes. I'd forgotten." Dan said, forcing a smile.

"Chris might be a little sensitive after the whole 'quitting YouTube' thing."

"Well he was behaving like satan Cole Sprouse so he deserves to feel like shit for a while." Dan said smugly. He pulled his Mac onto his lap and opened up several windows (twitter, tumblr and youtube...the usual suspects).

"I guess." Phil agreed. He put his lips to his new girlfriend's cheek and smiled. Dan ignored them, pretending to be deeply absorbed in some Tumblr post. "Do you know about the whole Crabstickz situation, Honey?" Phil asked the girl currently perched on his lap who's name Dan had just learnt as Honey.

"I saw the worldwide twitter trend begging Chris not to leave youtube but I didn't fully understand the whole explanation video." Honey admitted, chewing on her bottom lip and widening her eyes so they were impossibly big.

"I'm not sure that anyone did," Dan chipped in, looking up from the computer screen long enough to share a wan smile with Honey.

"To think we were texting him though, pleading with him to think through his decisions." Phil sighed, shaking his head.

"We truly got trolled." Dan said. The doorbell rang and he raised an eyebrow. "Speak of the devil,". Low and behold, their visitor was Chris, alongside a stylishly dressed Pj.

"Welcome," Dan greeted, stepping into an awkward manly hug with Pj. Chris barrelled past him without so much as a hello (which was normal Chris behaviour and Dan just regarded him with a smile), taking a seat across from Phil on the sofa. Pj soon joined him and Dan was left hovering awkwardly by the door holding Pj's coat and a mug of lukewarm tea. He disposed of the mug and hung the coat on the back of the door to avoid it getting wrinkled. Chris had already launched into an in-depth explanation of why he 'quit YouTube but didn't quit YouTube' which would undoubtedly result in the four of us being no less confused afterwards than we were already.

"So basically I quit YouTube but I'm still making videos." Chris finished. Phil and Honey shared a look.

"That makes like no sense." Honey said softly, her American accent shining through. Chris shrugged, his shoulders bumping up and down in an awkward fashion, probably due to the fact that he was more than a little pissed.

"I'm considering quitting relationships." Dan said, secretly desperate for the conversation to turn back to Liz. Much as he was trying to forget about her, it didn't mean he could prevent himself from forcing other people to talk about her 24/7.

"Dan," Chris started. Dan glanced wearily up at the older boy. "Give us all a break and go wank about her in your bedroom instead of boring us all with details of your relationship. Please and thank." Chris said, smiling when Dan threw back his head and laughed.

"I take it you still havent had a reply from Liz though, Dan." Pj crooned sympathetically. He was the one that kept the peace between the 'fantastic foursome'. At the slightest hint of an argument, Pj was on the case, sorting things out and making everyone see the light of day.

"Of course not." Dan said quietly. He cracked his knuckles and Phil winced. Dan forgot how much Phil hated when he did that. "I guess I'm just starting to feel like it's hopeless...she's probably moved on I think it' about time I did too."

"I guess," Pj chipped in.

"You'll see her anyway though...at Playlist Live." Chris added.

"I know." Dan sighed. He could only assume that Liz would be attending this year and, to be honest, she was part of the reason he was going at all. He loved meeting all of his subscribers, of course, but maybe if Liz could just see him again she'd realise that she was still in love with him and they could get back together. Dan closed his eyes. He couldn't let himself get dragged back into this fiction world he created for himself. He had to focus on reality.

"Are we still going up to Florida the week before Playlist Live for a little summer vacay?" Chris asked, refering to the plans they had made months ago. Phil shook his head and smiled gleefully.

"Yes!"

"Yes." Dan seconded, and Pj murmured in agreement. "Are you still bringing Carly, Peej?" Dan asked. Carly is Pj's long term girlfriend and the two were inseperable; both being really creative and into art and music in a big way. They were as perfect for eachother as Chris's hand was for Chris.

"I'll have to secure myself a hot chick whilst I'm in Flo Rida," Chris promised himself. Dan said nothing.

"You'll come, won't you, Honey?" Phil asked his new girlfriend. She widened her eyes slightly and let her mouth fall open, exposing sharp white teeth that were perfectly alligned.

"You mean it?" She seemed geniunely excited.

"Of course. It'll be fun. You'll love Carly, she's the best! I'm sure you both will get on great!" Phil said animatedly. He smiled tightly.

"What about you Dan, gonna pick up a new girl in Florida?" Pj asked. Dan shook his head abruptly.

"No."

"What about if I set you up with one of Carly's friends? You remember Stacy, right? Carly's old roommate...the girl with the dark hair?" Dan did remember. He remembered Stacy being a very attractive, down to earth girl with ears thet stuck out in an endearing fashion and a gap between her front teeth. He'd committed Stacy's face to memory because something about her had enticed him, even back then when Dan was in a steady relationship with Liz. He hadn't felt anything but a desire to know more about her and to befriend her but maybe they could be more than that...maybe she could make for a nice girlfriend.

"Ok." Dan said, surprising himself. "Yes. That'd be great, thanks, Peej."
