Summer break is here and y'all know what that means: more Fate/Burning Will! This is one of the chapters I've been the most excited to write, so I really hope you guys enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it.
Not much else to say here so let's just jump right into it.
--------------------------------------
A flood of raindrops wasn't the only sound echoing throughout the night. The sounds of a battle could rang across the distance, with the occasional head turning in confusion at what was going on at the source of the noise.
The source in question was a heated battle between Natsu and Rider.
Natsu lunged at Rider, attacking her with a downward-striking punch. However, her agility allowed her to easily evade the attack. As such, Natsu struck the ground and caused a small crater to form in the process. Rider quickly retaliated with a powerful kick that the Dragon Slayer barely had time to react to and block. One thing was clear: Rider was fast.
It always seemed like Natsu's strikes were just shy of hitting Rider, and she would always be able to retaliate with an attack that Natsu could barely counter. Overall, this was a losing battle for the Dragon Slayer at the moment. Despite this, he kept fighting, and he had more than enough stamina to withstand all of Rider's hits.
And yet, something about his fighting style at the moment was odd to Saber.
"Why is Natsu not using his magic?" Saber wondered, "He must be concerned about how much he uses given our circumstances, but even then, he is hardly using it at all."
Luckily, Natsu had the benefit of having more room to evade attacks. The last time he fought Rider was in an alley, so dodging Rider's hits was far more difficult. However, the same could be said vice versa.
At the moment, it was all Natsu could do to evade and parry Rider's attacks. Although, she soon managed to find an opening and stab him again with one of her chains before proceeding to hoist him up and throw him over her, slamming him into the ground.
"Damn... Talk about fast," Natsu groaned as he stood back up, the smoke kicked up from the impact clearing.
"Can't you see the situation you're in?" Rider questioned as the Dragon Slayer faced her, "You can't win like this. You should've made use of your Servant."
"To hell with all that! You're talking like you've won."
"Are you that unaware of your current state?"
"Yeah yeah, you've been hitting me a lot," Natsu casually responded, "But other Servants' attacks hurt way more than these tiny ones."
"My attacks are small by comparison?" Rider repeated, chuckling at the idea.
"Yeah. It doesn't matter if you're fast, it means nothing if your attacks don't have any power behind them."
"Your confidence is impressive," Rider complimented, "But, how can you hope to defeat me if you can't land a hit?"
Then, Rider rushed at Natsu again. Natsu was beginning to adapt to the speed of Rider's attacks, which did help. However, the moment he went for a counterattack, she blocked it before kicking him away. His adaptation didn't account for her blocking speed being as fast as her attacks.
Just as Natsu skidded back from the kick, Rider was heading right toward him. However, she got ahead of herself, and Natsu seized the opportunity to land a powerful flame-coated kick to her face.
"Fire Dragon's Claw!"
Rider definitely felt that one, and her momentum was stopped from that hit. Yet, she still attacked after recovering, swinging her right chain in a sweeping motion that Natsu had to avoid as if it were a game of jump rope. She did the same with her left chain, and Natsu jumped again, performing a back handspring to get some distance between them. Not letting up, Rider rushed at him and delivered a powerful two-legged kick that Natsu raised his arms to block.
