In the previous chapter:
"I will not allow you to participate in club activities until you can think of yourselves as teammates!" He smacks their application forms in their faces. "I will not allow you to participate in club activities until you can think you can think as yourself as teammates!" He shut the entryway.
Daichi-kun walks away like nothing happened and Suga-kun and I look at him in confusion before I start counting.
"5," I hold my fingers up.
"4,"
"Ne- Akira-san? Why are you counting?" Suga-kun asks as Tanaka-kun looks at me with a blush on his cheeks. I hold a finger against my lips, telling them to silence for a while.
"3,"
"2," I point towards the door.
Suga-kun makes an 'o' with his mouth.
"1..."
"HUHHHHHH?!" The duo outside yell.
Chapter 2: A Challenge and Opponents
Third POV
The duo stands outside after being kicked out of the gym and not allowed to join the club. "P-please let me in! Please let me play volleyball! I'll get along with Kageyama, I swear! Please!" Hinata begs.
"Are you sure about this, Daichi-senpai?" Akira asks facing the male that was facing his back to the door with arms crossed. Tanaka clutches his stomach from dying of laughter.
"I'm sorry!" Hinata's voice could be heard from the other side of the door.
Suga agrees with Akira. "We need more players. Only time can form a team."
"I know that! However..." Daichi is once again cut off by Kageyama yelling and pushing Hinata to the side making him fall.
"HEY! OUTTA THE WAY! I apologize for my behavior! Please let me be on the team!" He smiles thinking he accomplished convincing the captain to let him when he sees the gym opening, only to stare dead into Daichi's eye, that held no emotion.
"Be honest." Daichi deadpans
"If I'm stuck working with him in a game, I'd rather do every receive, spike, and toss by myself." Kageyama grumbles with an annoyed aura surrounding him.
"What the hell is it with you?" Hinata yells in the background
"He's acting like them." Akira speaks out not knowing what she said until it was too late.
"Huh? Who's 'them,' A-akira-san?" Tanaka questions after he listened to her previous sentence while stuttering her name.
"Oh! Uh, nothing to worry about!" She plasters a fake smile on her face waving her hand in a manner to 'forget what I said' remembering them and him.
Daichi chuckles at Kageyama's response. "Why are you actually being honest with me? I'm good with that kind of thing but still. In volleyball, you can't drop, carry or touch the ball twice in a row." He puts a sly smile on and shut the door.
Akira's POV
My heart clenched at what Kageyama-kun had just said about working alone. I thought I was never going to hear those words with the exact meaning again. It hurts to see an image of him again. I wasn't ready.
"Akira-san, are you okay?" Suga-kun's soothing voice brings me from my thoughts.
"Huh?"
"You've been staring at the floor and didn't pay attention to Daichi's question." Suga-kun explains.
