Eleanor woke the next morning extremely sore. She groaned and rolled onto her side. Newt had already woken up and was sitting at his desk with a cup of tea while writing in his notebook. He turned around when he heard Eleanor groan.

"Morning, you alright?" He asked her while putting his quill down and standing up.

"Just sore," She replied. She swung her legs out of bed and climbed down the ladder into Newt's arms.

"I woke up feeling the same way. Here take this, might help a little," He said while giving her a pill and a cup of tea. She smiled at him and took it while taking a seat at her desk.

"I already said good morning to everyone, whenever you're ready to move on, just let me know." Newt said while sitting down at his desk again to carry on with his work.  Eleanor summoned her makeup bag and pulled out her hairbrush. She had no intention on putting any makeup on, but added a little mascara to help brighten her eyes. She walked over to her dresser and pulled out a pair of rust orange paper bag pants and a white tee shirt which she tucked into her pants. She threw on her oxfords and placed her wand in her pocket. Satisfied with her look, she turned to Newt who was watching her. He blushed and looked back at his writing. Eleanor walked back over to him and massaged his shoulders.

"You're allowed to look at me Newt. It's not a crime," She whispered into his ear which sent electricity through his body. He stood up to face her and cupped her face in his hands.

"I do, I just don't like getting caught," He said devilishly with a smirk. He pecked Eleanor on the lips and pulled away. Eleanor turned away to grab her journal and clean up her area so they could get going.

"Those pants look really nice on you," Newt said and Eleanor spun around.

"Pervert," Eleanor giggled. "Come on, let's get going."

Newt and Eleanor climbed up the ladder to the outside world. Eleanor had greeted Herma who was enjoying her time basking in the sunlight. They had situated themselves onto her back and before they knew it, they were soaring through the sky on their way to Sudan. Eleanor had leaned back into Newts lap and he held her tightly around the waist to make sure she wouldn't fall off.

"Do you think Samuel made it home okay?" Eleanor wondered.

"I don't know. Why do you care?" Newt asked back.

"Dunno..." She trailed off. She found herself thinking of the man more often than she care to admit. His birthday was in a few days and she brought his gift with her to give him on this trip, but now it was just sitting in Newt's case. Maybe she'd send it when she got back home so she didn't have to stare at it anymore. She understood that Samuel was obviously a terrible person who was brainwashed by Grindelwald's inhumane tactics, but it hurt knowing that someone her mother used to be really good friends with, would think like that. Was her mother also a follower? Did they have the same views? Newt felt Eleanor go tense and she straightened her back up.

"What's wrong?" He asked her confused.

"Nothing," She lied. She thought back to her mothers books and began noticing a slight pattern. Sure, she wrote books and stories on all creatures, but she mainly wrote about the dangerous ones. One's that, if tamed, could be used as weapons in wars. Dragons, erumpents, nundus, swooping evils.... Was her mother actually rescuing these creatures or was she studying them to use them to her advantage... to someone else's advantage? She got lost in her own thoughts and Newt seemed to noticed her slight change in posture. He rubbed her back to bring her back to reality.

"Don't lie to me, EL. What's bothering you?" He asked her again.

"Nothing, I'm probably just reading too far into it." She replied.

"Into what?" He asked. Silence.

"Eleanor?" He prompted.

"I think my mother was one of his followers too," She merely whispered. There was a slight pause, but Newt continued to comfort her.

"Why would you think that?" He asked and Eleanor explained her theory.

"El, you might be reading too far into this. She was writing about her experiences with dangerous creatures to help the world better understand them. That's what I'm doing and I'm sure as hell not one of his fanatics." He tried to soothe her.

"You're probably right," She said and leaned back down into his lap.

"El, what did your father do?" Newt asked all of a sudden.

"He worked for the Ministry in the department of magical accidents and catastrophes. He did a lot of traveling with Mom though. When they would go on longer trips, he would accompany the group because every now and then something would happen with a creature and muggles would need to be obliviated." She said.

"Did that happen often?" He questioned.

"Not sure, I don't remember them talking about those situations too much. I do remember him telling me a story about how mom accidentally lured a Hungarian Horntail into a village with muggles and it burned down their whole village. It took him and twelve others to wipe their memories clean of that incident and my mother was placed on watch for two years and couldn't travel out of the country for six months. It was in the daily prophet and everything." She rambled a bit.

"Do you believe that was truly an accident?" He asked.

"I... don't know. I thought you said I was reading too much into it?" She asked back.

"I did... but..." He began.

"But what?" She gave him a funny look. He didn't say anything for a few seconds.

"How do you accidentally lure the most dangerous dragon into a village full of muggles?" He finally said. "You're mom wrote how easy they were to train in her book and even gave tips for how to get them to trust you."

"Merlins beard," Eleanor whispered and she sank even lower into Newt's chest.

"I'm so sorry," He whispered.

"Don't be. Now I know the truth." She muttered and they stayed silent the rest of the ride. She didn't say anything because she knew if she did, she would start crying. How could her mother be on his side? She knew she had to do a little more investigating, but that had to wait. They had something else to worry about as they neared the city of Sudan. Herma landed them gently on the ground and bowed for them to get off.

"So I guess this is where we say goodbye." Eleanor said while walking up to face Herma.

"I will be forever in your debt, Eleanor. If you ever find yourself in Egypt or anywhere nearby, please use this to find me." She turned her paw over to reveal a mirror. "All you must do is look in it and I will know where to find you."

"Thank you," Eleanor whispered and stroked her cheek. Newt also bid her goodbye and they watched her fly away until she was merely a speck of dust in the sky. Eleanor placed the mirror in Newt's case for easy access and they began walking down a rocky mountain towards the nearest building in sight.

"I'm still astonished that you made friends with a Sphinx." Newt said.

"I thought she was going to eat me at any point. I'm gonna miss her." Eleanor said.

"We'll visit." Newt replied. They shifted their eyes to a distant building where there was a black mass hovering above. It expanded into an explosion, but quickly pulled itself back together and smashed into the building it was above. The building exploded into a million pieces and the black mass disappeared.

"That's it, isn't it?" Eleanor asked wearily.

Newt nodded.

"That's an obscurus."
