Once we get to the apartment, I let Dewey go off the leash. I look at Henry and smile. He's a good friend, he really is. He's had a few bad spots here and there, especially with Nora and his secret. But, he seems to do better with it than I.
My mind flashes back to the guy that gave me the dress after my first rebirth, so to speak. I need to tell Henry, and it needs to be soon. But, I'm not sure how he's going to take it, I mean, it's a pretty big thing. "Henry," I whisper, not sure if he could hear me.
I look at him to see that he's looking at me, "What's wrong, Elizabeth?" He asks, guiding me to sit on their couch.
I sigh and look away from him, "I know-" I begin before being interrupted by the phone ringing.
"Ah, hold on a moment." He says, standing and walking to the phone, "Hello.... Ah, Detective Martinez, how may I help you... A murder? Yes, I will be there in a few moments." He hangs up then looks at me, "What we're you saying?" He asks, walking to his coat and putting it on.
"It can wait." I say, waving him off.
"You sure, Elizabeth? I'm sure Detective Martinez won't mind me being a few minutes late." He says, putting his scarf on.
"I'm sure, Henry. Go do your job." I fake a smile and stand up. I look away and stand up, "It's not that important, anyways." I walk down to Abe and sit in a chair.
"I'll be back later, Abraham. Take care of Elizabeth for me." Henry says, laughing. I roll my eyes and look at Abe.
"Yeah, yeah, Henry." Abe replies, waving him off, much like I did a few minutes ago. When Henry leaves, Abe looks at me.
This is never good. I think, looking down.
He sighs and sits beside me, "It's good to see you, here, Elizabeth. Now, what's on your mind?" He asks, crossing his arms and leaning back.
I almost forgot how well he knows me. I sigh and look up at him, "I know Adam." I confess, fiddling with my hands.
I hear the door open and look up. I see Henry standing in the doorway, his face holding an emotion I'm not used to. It seems to be a mixture of sadness and anger. "You know Adam?" He asks, shutting the door and turning the sign to closed.
I nod, meekly, "That's what I was going to tell you. But, I didn't know how. He gave me the dress after my rebirth, so to speak." I say, looking down at my hands.
"So, you tell Abraham?" He asks, probably raising his eyebrows.
"Shouldn't you be at work?" Abe interjects, before Henry and I can say anymore.
"I had forgotten my bag," Henry replies making me look up at him. He shakes his head, "How long has it been since you last saw him?" Henry asks, sitting beside me.
"The once. That was the first and only time I have saw him." I reply, thinking, I feel like a kid that just got into trouble.
Henry sighs and looks around, "He mustn't know you are here in New York. However, I doubt he is here."
I nod, taking both of their hands in mine. "I love you both, so very much."
A/N: Hiiii! Betcha didn't see that coming did you? And thank you @TFASGAwriter for reminding me on Wednesday to write this. :)
