Walking out of the police building I hail a cab. After about 70 years or so of doing this, I've become a pro. Getting in the cab, I ask the cabbie to take me to Abe's.
When the cab arrives I pay the guy and get out. "Wait, miss." I hear the him yell. I turn around and lean on the passenger side of the car. "Here, call me later. Or sometime. Or never. I don't care."
I nod and take his number and stick it in my pocket. I look up at him. "What's your name?" I ask, looking in his blue eyes.
"Emmett. And your's?"
"Elizabeth. I need to go." I say waving good by to him.
"Sorry, we're closed." I hear Abe say from somewhere in his shop.
"Even for me?" I ask, walking around.
He looks up and I see his face brighten, "Elizabeth! How good to see you! What are you doing here?"
I roll my eyes, "Geez, Abe, no hug, no warm welcome?" I ask, sitting on one of his chairs that isn't for sale.
"Well, when a man of my age hugs a girl of your age, I could be arrested." He explains sitting in front of me.
"Of my age? I am two hundred and twenty-one." I exclaim, and realize what he means. "You mean my physical age. Right. Oops."
"It's fine. Would you like a cup of tea?" Abe asks, holding his hand out for me. I nod, taking his outstretched hand. He smiles and walks with me up to his and Henry's apartment.
He leads me to the kitchen table and pulls me out a chair. "This reminds me of our first date." I smile at the memory.
Abe laughs, "Yeah, you remember what happened after that?" I nod, covering my mouth. "Oh. Henry was so mad at you."
"It's not like he and I didn't do anything worse all those years ago." I say, thanking Abe for the tea.
"It's weird to hear you talk about the guy I grew up with as my father. I can't even imagine it." Abe shakes his head, sitting in front of me. "What have you been doing for the past 50 years?" He asks, taking a sip of his tea.
I smile and look down, "Well, when I first moved to London, for the fifth time, I met a guy. He was everything that I had ever wanted. I was falling in love with him." I shake my head think about him.
"What happened?" Abe asks, making me look up.
"On our one year anniversary, I told him about the curse. He thought I was crazy, as most people would. I had to pack up and move to Paris. I was stupid to think that I could trust him after only a year." I shake my head again.
"Abe, Elizabeth, I'm home." We hear Henry yell from the door at the stairs.
"He actually called me by my name." I say, laughing.
"Yes, contrary to your belief, I do know your name." Henry says, coming to sit beside me. Abe gets up and hands Henry a hot cup of tea, as well.
"Elizabeth, here, was telling me about what she had been doing before she moved back." Abe says, looking at Henry.
Henry raises his eyebrows. "Really? And how was it? Find any guys?"
I look down and take a sip of my tea, "One, I told him about the curse and he thought I was crazy. I had to leave. I didn't know what else to do. I fell in love with him. And I learnt that he passed away about a year ago. He married a lady and they had three children." I look up at Henry and he wraps his arms around me, kissing my head.
I lean my head on his shoulder, "I've missed your head on my shoulder. It seems odd now."
I smile and place a hand his, "I missed it, too."
"Once you two are done with what this is, Elizabeth, why did you decide to move to New York again?"
"I missed you two." I smile, looking at Abe. "Living without contact with Henry was rough. Especially when I needed a doctor." Henry laughs, "But, in reality, New York had been calling for a while. And besides, I figured I could fit in better here than anyone else."
I feel Henry nod, "I can see you fitting in here. Can't you Abe?"
"Yes, with the way you dress. It seems fitting, really." Abe says getting up from his chair. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a business to run."
I smile and take in the feeling of Henry's arms around me. "So, Elizabeth, where are you staying?"
"I'm currently looking for a place. But, I've saved enough money for me to stay at a hotel." I shrug and look up at him.
"Oh, no you're not. You can stay here. I'll sleep on the couch and you can have my bed." Henry says, making me sit up.
"Henry, I don't wanna impose on you and Abe." I say, shaking my head profusely. I love these boys, I do, but that's the last thing I want to do.
"Oh, you won't be. We would love to have you. What do you say?" He asks, taking my hand.
A/N: Sorry, I've been at work. And sleeping.
