Diana regarded herself in the mirror. She had on a dark lilac maxi dress with ruffles around the shoulders. It wasn't her favourite but her mom was so excited to buy it for her she couldn't say no. She brushed her hair out and slipped on her glasses.

Coming out of the bathroom Diana saw all her friends lounging and dancing around the dorm, eager to go to the dance. Diana felt quite guilty she wasn't telling the closest people in her life what her and Regulus' plans were. Sadly, for their own safety, she mustn't tell them a thing.
Looking at her friends, so beautiful, she saw Mary in a sunburnt orange dress, Ginerva in pale green, and Saoirse in black.

Upon entering the hall, Diana was struck by how much it had changed. Orange and black silky tuile hung from the ceiling and walls, draping the world in cloth. Black candles floated around above their heads, pumpkins lined the walls and sat on fireplace mantels. Tables were pushed to the side, covered in finger foods and drinks. The school ghosts were all here, minus the Bloody Baron and Helena Ravenclaw who hardly attended these events.

Saoirse and Ginerva quickly hit the dance floor as "I'm Just a Witch" by the Harpies started playing. Still sore from her injury, Diana hung back with Margeret, who had elected to stay by her side for the night. Touched by how concerned her friend was, Diana couldn't help but be worried about how she was going to shake her.

The hall came alive as students and staff alike danced to the music, lights swarmed above, allowing for shadows to rise and fall on the hall's walls.

Diana kept looking around the hall, her eyes searching for Regulus' face. Or, she paused, almost forgetting their connection.

"Regulus," she whispered.

Again, "Regulus." Diana glanced at Margeret who was pre-occupied waving to their friends on the dancefloor from their place on a bench at the side of the hall, beside a rather large pumpkin.

"I'm here, by the door," Diana heard the bridge open and a voice whispered.

Her head shot up to lock eyes with Regulus Black standing at the back of a pack of Slytherins. He wore dark emerald robes that shimmered a bit against the candlelight. He towered over some of his peers, his lanky frame seen from a mile away.

"I've been mentioning that I don't feel well all day so I'll have an excuse to leave," he said. Diana still was getting used to this feeling, like someone whispering in her mind, warm and low.

"I'll find a way to get away from Margeret, probably just complain of my ribs and insist she stay and have fun. We'll watch for when Dumbledore leaves, a little while after we go."

"Copy that," he said with a chuckle.

"What are you smiling at?" Margeret said.

"Oh, just it's so pretty," Diana responded.

Margeret agreed and turned back to watch their friends, Diana awaiting Dumbledore's departure.
