Six never realized how lonely she had been until she met Mono until now. It was sad, really. On her way home from his house, Six thought back to the years she had spent alone. She had thought that being all by yourself was the best way to live, because when people eventually left your life, it would hurt less. But this time, Six let herself get attached.

And look where it got her. Desperately sitting outside Mono's bedroom door, talking to him through the wood in hushed whispers so the noise wouldn't hurt his head. According to Mono's dad, Static Fever was no joke, and Mono had to be quarantined because of it. Normally Six would have called bullshit. But Six had seen what it had made Mono do.
Blinking hazily at the crosswalk, she hoped Mono's hands were okay. And that he wouldn't be in trouble for breaking the glass. It was getting dark now, and Six's dad was getting worried about her. She had kept up this routine of visiting Mono for a few days now. But what did he know? It was HIS fault that the family-

No. Six didn't want to think about that. The rest of Six's family was fine. (Six just hasn't seen or heard from them since the divorce.) She didn't need them. And neither did her dad. 'For our own good,' he had said.

Slipping into a dark alley to collect her thoughts, Six blinked at a rat digging into the dumpster behind her. Little paws.. Squeaky nose... She didn't want to scare it. So she stayed still as the lights dimmed around her. Was it always that dark? huh. The sun shouldn't fully set for a little longer. Why was her vision getting blurry?... How long had it been since Six had last eaten? She was hungry. The dull ache in her stomach made Six wince as it sharpened. Six had fallen onto her knees. It hurt. it hurt so fucking much. She was shaking. The shadows around her clouded her vision. All she could hear was her stomach roaring for sustenance.

It had never gotten this bad before.

"What the- GET OFF OF ME!" the boy in blue yelled. Six was knocked onto the floor, teeth grinding at her catch in a desperate attempt to satisfy the void in her throat. Hyperventilating, Raven carefully felt at the wound she'd given him; a large chunk of flesh was missing, bare muscle stinging in the air as salty tears made the pain spike even more on contact.
"What happened?!"    "SHE BIT ME!"   "Six, what the-"    "Get her out of here, she's insane!"
Raven was guided away by concerned others as Six's father guided his feral kid away. The pain, the shock, was overwhelming.

    "I hate her."

When Six could see again, her senses were bombarded with a familiar, thudding terror. the rat Six had spotted was crushed in her hands, blood dripping from sharpened teeth and the coppery scent of blood clogging her nostrils. She had eaten it alive.

Fuck. Not again.
