For normal children, the school year was over.
Dennis, however, was not a normal child; and the school he attended was even more strange.
During spring, fall and winter, the inhabitants of this facility were flesh and blood. In summer, they were porcelain and chipped paint and a strange ichor that gave these students life.
Coal-black eyes blinked beneath cracked glasses; artificial light from broken fixtures reflected the cracks all along his body, filled in with gold and plaster- special treatment given only to one of the Teacher's favorite pupils. Any other she would have left to rot in their broken bodies.
He's not very popular, as you can probably tell. Every other student seemed to be out to get him in one way or another, even the other kids labeled as "weird" or "outcasts." It seemed only Judy, the Teacher's pet and top of the food chain paid attention to him- and that was usually trying to get him to blackmail other students to do her bidding. Of course he followed orders, as was necessary for survival around these.. well, the best way to describe them would be bullies.
Lugging his books back to dorm, he spared at passing glance at Benjamin- the bottom of the pecking order, due to being blamed for quite literally everything- being decked in what remained of his face by Troy, the popular kid. No effort to help the poor, mouthless boy was given by anyone around, so Dennis didn't bother either. After all, he didn't want to end up on the wrong side of Troy's mallet.
Packing his things back where thet belonged, Dennis stumbled upon a little paper airplane. Unfolding it, he saw the inside was full of scribbles and doodles that surely had to be Jane's doing- she had a reputation for drawing on literally everything. Including Benjamin.
Whirling around, Dennis tossed the paper airplane. It swooped and dove through the air, eventually settling down amidst a little pile of dust. He chuckled slightly to himself before climbing into his designated sleeping spot, and after a while all the other students were in bed.
Until a noise seemingly only he could hear echoed through the empty halls.
Someone- a few someones- had entered the school.
And they were human.
Uh oh.
