Opening scene- we open with a shot of the hospital hallway. As we move down the hall way we hear someone yelling from the room. "Easy, ow ow ow, can you stop poking me, oh thats cold" a different voice responds "will you stop moving" "well maybe if you could get on the first try i wouldnt be in so much pain" "stop being a baby" we then see matt and ryan in a lab and matt is being hooked up with some sensors to his brain.
Matt: what exactly is this supposed to do again?
Ryan: turning on a machine and looking at a tablet. This will help me see if your brain function is at normal levels. Im hoping that im wrong about you losing your memory.
Matt: well its been two days since liz knocked me out and so far i still remember everything of the day before.
Ryan: i dont know if itll stay at that rate. There could be a whole slew of factors. Stress, intense emotions, or for all we know liz could push a button and you could instantly lose all your memory.
Matt: damn ryan, thats bleak.
Ryan: sorry, i just dont know how to fix this.
Ryan looks defeated and matt attempts to lift his spirits.
Matt: you and sam are two of the smartest people i know, if anybody can figure it out, its you guys. Ryan looks up at his brother and cracks a slight smile. Alright doc, lets do this.
Ryan: okay, im gonna administer a slight shock.
Matt: how slight are we- ryan pushes a button that sends a surge through matt's body- ow! Damn okay! I think we have different definitions of slight.
Sam: enters the room. Dont tell me my hero is hurt from a little electricity. She walks over and kisses matt. How do you feel? Still remember me?
Matt: how could i ever forget that beautiful face?
Ryan: get a room you two.
Sam: looking at matt. Well if you can make it through this without complaining, we will.
Matt: sits up excitedly. You heard the lady, fire it up. Sam walks over to ryan while we see him run another surge.
Sam: hows it looking?
Ryan: well it seems that spikes in adrenaline seem to have a weird effect on his hippocampus.
Matt: my what? Ryan walks over to his brother and readjusts some sensors.
Ryan: hippocampus. Its the part of the brain that deals with memory. Looking at his tablet. It looks every time your adrenaline spikes, that brain has a similar reaction to when someone has a traumatic brain injury,
Sam: so youre saying that the more he stresses, the faster his memory lost could be?
Ryan nods his head. Great, its not like we have a former friend constantly hunting us.
Matt: what were we talking about again?
Ryan: well thats enough for today, i guess my theory is right. Looks at sam who looks worried. He'll be okay, just try to keep him calm. Did you talk to daniel?
Sam: yeah he said he'll let me know if anything pans out.
Matt hearing this chimes in: what's Daniel up to?
Sam and ryan look at each other hesitant to tell matt.
Ryan: he uh, went back to genesis' headquarters.
