Genesis Chapter 3

Family Ties

Opening scene- we see matt in the little hallway leading to the living room where last episode ended. Sam runs to ryan who is on the floor bleeding out. Matt is stunned in horror and sam cries out to snap him out of it.

Sam: tears in her eyes. Matt! We have to help him!just then matt remembers where he is and rushes over to them.

Matt:what do i do?

Sam: applying pressure to the wound. She looks at matt and then the kitchen. There should be a medical kit in the top left cabinet. Matt runs and throws open several cabinets. He finds the kit, grabs it and hurrie back. He throws on the floor next to sam. She immediately opens it and pulls out a pair of pliers and a little tray. Ryan is barely conscious so she talks to matt. Im gonna try to find the bullet. You have to distract him. Matt is once again frozen. Matt! He moves up to his brother and grabs his hand.

Matt: im right here ryan. Youre going to be okay. Matt squeezes his brothers hand. Ryan returns the squeeze and tries to talk to his brother.

Ryan: through pain and in a whisper. Matt, im sorry. Just then a bunch of blood comes from ryans mouth.

matt:panicky . you dont have anything to be sorry about. What happened?

Ryan: barely conscious. Liz knocked on the door, i thought it was daniel so i opened it. She had a gun, we struggled for a bit but she managed to shoot me. Matt looks at sam who is desperately trying to hold it together. She inserts the pliers and ryan groans and squirms from the pain. He begins to close his eyes.

Matt: shaking his head a bit to wake him up. Focus on me. I swear to god if you die, i'm going to kill you. Ryan barely manages to open his eyes.

Ryan: Listen, please don't let this consume you. He begins to start coughing blood. Matt panics and looks at Sam who looks deferated knowing that there is nothing she can do. Matt turns back to ryan. This isnt your fault. You have to go forward with your life. Liz took so much from us, dont let her take away your life too. Promise me.

Matt: his face slowly filling with tears. I promise. Ryan smiles and we see his hand slowly begin to release matt's. Ryan! Open your eyes! Matt looks at his brothers face as he realizes that he passed away. Tears are now streaming down his face. I cant lose you too! ryan ! sam is crying as she moves up to caress ryans face. She looks at matt who falls back as he begins to break down. He buries his face in his hands for a moment and in slow motion he raises his head and lets out a long scream. Just then matt gets a surge of memories. As his life begins to return to him he passes out from the pain. We hear sam exclaim in worry.

Sam: matt! We get a shot of matt's face as the screen slowly fades to black. We then fade back into the backyard. Matt, sam, and daniel are standing near a makeshift burial plot. Matt looks like he hasnt slept in days. We see a wooden cross with flowers and a photo of ryan. Daniel is seen clenching his fists as tears begin to form in his eyes.

daniel : i shouldve been there. Maybe i couldve saved him. He looks at the photo. I'm so sorry ryan. He turns around and heads inside, leaving matt and sam.

Sam: you know this isnt your fault right? There was nothing you couldve done.

Matt: with no emotion, almost numb. I couldve been here. If we hadnt moved out, i wouldve been here when she attacked him. He looks at sam. She looks heartbroken hearing matt say that. Realizing he hurt her, he speaks again. Im sorry, i didnt mean it like that.
