Genesis Chapter 3

Heartbreak

Opening scene- its the middle of the night, we have a long shot of a house from the driveway. From outside we see a muzzle flare. We see two figures in the living room they look like they're fighting. As they struggle we see several more muzzle flashes go off. One of the figures fall to the floor as we slowly zoom into the house. As we get closer to the door, it flings open and we see liz step out with blood splatter on her shirt. As she steps out of frame we see a picture of the team on the wall. We cut to black. After a few seconds, we cut to a house but the scene is much different. We see someone approach the door. We cut to inside the house where we hear a knock and someone goes to open it. We see daniel and ryan carrying in some equipment.

Ryan: So where can we set up?

Sam: you guys can use the living room. Ryan smiles as they both come in. They enter the kitchen. There's medical equipment thrown about. How many more tests do you guys need to run?

Daniel: Honestly, as many as it takes to find a way to reverse matt's memory loss.

Ryan: i think we're close to finding something. Ive been looking over Bowman's research and I think there may be a way to help matt.

Sam: she perks up. Wait really? What is it?

Ryan: youre not going to like it.

Sam: If it means we get matt back, i'm willing to do whatever.

Daniel: are we even sure Matt would want to get his memories back? They look at him with confusion. He looks at sam. You said it yourself the other night, Matt seems happier. He isn't constantly worried about protecting us.

Ryan: But he's not matt. I don't want a shadow of him when there's a chance we can have the real him back.

Matt: walks in from the hallway. You make it sound like I'm a clone or something. Theres a brief silence.

Ryan: I didn't mean it like that. I just mean that the Matt we know and love could still be in there.

Sam: But you aren't sure?

Ryan: pauses. He feels Sam beginning to question herself. No, I'm not sure. But i'm not going to give up yet.

Matt: if it matters at all, i do want my memories back. They look at him surprised that he said that.

Sam: really?

Matt: yeah. Dont get me wrong its nice to have an emotional clean sleight. No guilt or trauma weighing on me. But im also missing out on good memories. Looking at ryan. Bonding with my brother. Looks at sam. Falling in love. I miss all that too. So yeah it may suck to remember the bad parts, but itll be worth it.

Ryan: smiles and looks at sam. Then its settled. Lets find a way to get your memory back.

Matt: sees the mess of equipment on the floor. It reminds him of the room where he was tortured. Why do you need so much equipment?

Ryan: iso we can run a few more tests and try to see if there is a way to reverse what bowman did to the implant. He gestures to the chair in the center of the room. Here,sit down. Matt sits and they begin to place some sensors on his head. Matt has brief flashes of his time in the room and begins to breathe slightly faster. Ryan notices. You okay?

Matt: yeah im fine. They continue to put more sensors on him and he flashes back to him screaming from pain with liz in the center screen. He remembers what she told him in the lab.
