"don't look for any redeeming qualities. i don't have any," nick had said in his charming way, the day they first met. at the time, judy had agreed, rolling her eyes and confronting him about the disappearance of mr. otterton. she was so sure that he had something to do with it, or at least some information to do with it. now, she scolded her past self as she laid in nick's arms. he brushes his hand over her cheek cautiously, seemingly noticing her faint scar for the first time. "what happened here?" he asks, curious. judy feels a pang in her chest thinking about her younger self. "um...in first grade, i was in a play. about what we wanted to be when we grew up and stuff," judy began explaining, waving her hands. nick liked how often she talked with her hands. "there was a little fair afterwards with games and rides and you needed tickets to do anything. i heard someone yell and i rushed over there. this guy, gideon, a bully," she continued, "he was pushing some kids around, taking their tickets and i went over there to help." 'my brave bunny,' nick thought to himself, smiling. he always liked how fearless she was. "basically, he ended up pushing me to the ground and i kicked him in the face," judy laughed and nick followed suit. "he didn't like that, though, because he scratched my face. i got the tickets back though. i tricked him," she finishes her story with a mischievous grin and nick studies the scar closer. judy liked how observant he was, the scar was so light that it wasn't really very noticeable unless you were staring intently at her face. which is something nick had been doing alot since they started dating. "what species was this gideon fella? these scratches look familiar," nick asks, suddenly. "oh," judy said, looking at her hands, "he was a fox." nick shifted uncomfortably and she turned to look at him. "i was wondering why your parents hated me so much," he jokes, smirking. "psh, nick," she pushes him slightly, rolling her eyes. they both giggle and a comfortable silence befalls them. after a little while, judy speaks up, "you know... when we first met? you said you didn't have any redeeming qualities. and i believed you then." she looks down at her hands again, "sorry." "i believed it then too," nick says, tilting her head to look at him, "you helped me realize differently, though. being with you made me realize that i was better than i thought i was." judy's heart swells and she feels tears prick her eyes. she wipes her eyes and nick laughs, "oh, bunny. you're so emotional." she rolls her eyes, laughing, "shut up, fox." he brings her closer, kissing her the faint scar on her cheek, "love you, bunny." "i love you too, nick," she says, with no hesitation, although they'd never said it before, "so much."
