Later that night, Thomas and I still sat together in the pit. My head rested against his shoulder as I saw a light coming towards us, along with soft footsteps.

"Who's there?" Thomas calls, noticing as well.

"It's just me." Chuck replies, revealing himself.

"Sorry, Chuck." Thomas says.

"Here. You guys will run better on a full stomach." Chuck states as he hands us some water and food.

Thomas and I eagerly open up the cloth, revealing berries and some bread. The two of us eagerly eat, clearly starving as we hum in satisfaction.

"Thanks, Chuck." We say.

I look up at the said boy, some bread sitting in my mouth as I see him holding something in his hand, looking at it.

"Hey, what do you got there?" I ask.

In response, Chuck leans towards the door, holding out a carving as Thomas and I look at it.

"Wow, that came out pretty damn good." Thomas comments. "What's that for?"

"It's for my parents." Chuck responds.

"You remember your parents?" I question, leaning forward.

"No." Chuck whispers sadly. "I mean, I know I must have them. And wherever they are, I'm sure they miss me... but I can't miss them because I don't remember them. What do you think you guys are gonna find out there tomorrow?"

I see Chuck look at the walls, to which I follow his gaze.

"I don't know." I reply in whisper, then seeing Chuck look down slightly. "But if there's a way out, Chuck, me, Thomas, and Minho are gonna find it."

Chucks sighs. "Here." He holds the carving out to me.

I take it curiously. "Chuck, why would you give this to me?"

Chucks shrugs. "I can't remember them anyway. But maybe if you find a way out, you can give it to them for me. I'll let you guys get some sleep."

He stands up, grabbing the lantern before starting to walk off. I look at the carving in my hand, holding it tightly.

"Hey, Chuck." I call. "Come here." Chuck obeys, walking back before kneeling down in front of me. "Put out your hand." He obeys as I place the carving back in his small hand. "I want you to give that to them yourself. We're gonna get out of here. All of us. Okay? I promise."

"Yeah." Chuck replies, nodding with a small smile. "Good night."

"Good night, Chuck." I respond.

"Good night, buddy." Thomas adds.

Eventually, it becomes dark again as Thomas and I sit there in silence. I play with my fingers as I thought about what we could face in the maze tomorrow.

"You're good with kids, you know?" Thomas speaks up, coming to sit beside me.

"I guess." I reply, shrugging.

I look at him, somehow meeting his eyes in the darkness. I feel myself leaning in, seeing Thomas do the same before our lips meet halfway. I feel Thomas' hands going to my cheeks, gripping them, not enough to hurt me as mine go against his chest. Eventually, we pull away, resting our foreheads against one another's, panting.

"I really like you." Thomas whispers.

"I really like you, too." I reply in a whisper.

I see Thomas smile before placing his lips back onto mine, both of us enjoying the kiss as much as we could.
